I hope i'm not double posting this..

Running windows 7. game is installed to C:\games\Baldur's Gate and C:\games\BGII - SoA.. BWS is installed in the C\Games folder

UAC is off, program Compatibility assistant is off.

Clean install. Up to date patches. This is the 4th attempt or so.

Included is the Debug.

Sorry if this issue has been answered elsewhere. I've been lurking on the forums in my freetime for days trying to fix this, and i just need someone to point me in the right direction.

Copy paste the [Alias] -section of the baldur.ini file that's in your BG1 folder, yes, open the file with Notepad for example... hmm, what does the BG1 game say in the version tag ? This can be seen when you load a save game and then go to the options menu. Yeah, you did start both games before you tried to modify them..

OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

[Alias]
HD0:=c:\games\Baldur's Gate\
CD1:=J:\CD1\
CD2:=J:\CD2\
CD3:=J:\CD3\
CD4:=J:\CD4\
CD5:=J:\CD5\
CD6:=J:\CD6\

v. 1.3.5508

I started Bg1, 2 and ToB and created a character in each game before starting the BWS.

Seems like you didn't do a full install of the game(s). If you did, those CDX would point to c:\games\Baldur's Gate\ instead of to your dvd drive.

Hm.. i'll try a from scratch install again instead of from back-up. and check the -Alias to see.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

ok.. reinstalled and patched BG1..

[Alias]
HD0:=c:\games\baldur's gate\
CD1:=J:\CD1\
CD2:=J:\CD2\
CD3:=J:\CD3\
CD4:=J:\CD4\
CD5:=J:\CD5\
CD6:=J:\CD6\

so that's unchanged.

But the version is now  1.3.5512

Nope... that's only in BG2. The BG1 keeps all the info in the HD0 (sub-)folder(s, as they are actually in the "movies" & "data" folders that the CDs had). But I was thinking the patch should fix the problem of not being able to install the BGT.
