So I'm going through the quest involving Isra's sister and the smuggler.  Isra asked to handle it on her own after confronting her sister, and told me I could meet her afterwards at the Den of Seven Veils.  So I go there, and there she is, but when I talk to her I just see the standard PID menu - with no option to ask her to rejoin or talk to her about her sister.  Any ideas?

Its Currently 11 according to Shadowkeeper.

 

Steps:

1) get quest

2) Go to govt building and talk to official

3) Go to prison and talk to other smuggler

4) Go to Jisstev estate and talk to folks.  Get records.

5) Go to Sea's Bounty.  Talk to bartender and other smuggler.

6) Isra says its not worth talking to the smuggler again.

7) Sleep

8) Dialog leads to direct skip to Isra's cousin's house

9) Dialog leads to Isra leaving with her sister, she tells me to meet her later at 7 veils.

10) Go to 7 veils.  Isra and Alia are standing there.  Alia just says she's busy.  Isra just gives PID menu.

 

Incidentally, I *love* Isra in both BG1 and BG2.  I'm quite fond of Paladins, but most NPC Paladins in

most games tend way too far to the "Lawful Stupid" side.  Isra is the kind of Paladin my PC's tend to be.

If it matters, my PC did *not* pursue a romance with Isra.  She expressed interest, I turned her down gently, and we've been close friends ever since.

Okay, I am really, really not sure what's going on here. The variable is right, but she seems to be using the wrong dialogue file right now in general--that PID menu should not even be accessible when she's out of the party.

 

Do you have a save from right before she left the party? Since something apparently went screwy there, reloading it should hopefully fix the screwed up dialogue files. If you console her into the party via CTRL-Q and then kick her again, that might also set the correct file.

I actually went back to a save from before I even got the quest.  If I repeat the same steps outlines above, I get the same result.  Every time.

 

I've tried using the "Your voice sounds strange" option - since I'm getting the PID anyway.  Didn't appear to help anything.

 

I've got a couple of saves at various points in the quest as I tried varying the steps a bit to see if I could get a different result.

 

I'll try CTRL-Q.  I don't usually play with the console enabled.

That appears to have worked.  CTRL-Q'd her back in the party.  Kicked her out, and she immediately initiated dialog about wanting to rejoin and how she'd talk about her sister later.

 

I'll hold on to the bugged saves in case you think of anything I can extract from them to assist in debugging.

Glad you got through, at least. =)

 

Yeah, if you could upload the save game, I can see if I can't reproduce the issue at all. Or at least see if there's something strange going on anywhere with the variables. Could you post your WeiDU log also? I doubt this is the result of some sort of conflict, but it is really a very strange bug.

I think you might need to sign up for an account to be able to attach files. If you don't see anything when you hit "more reply options", that's probably the problem.

 

Also, I can't say I know that much about Weidu, but the fact that certain mods are still showing up as uninstalled partway through your log worries me a bit. I'm not sure if incorrectly uninstalled mods (if those are even incorrectly uninstalled) could lead to issues like this, but it makes as much sense as anything. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I will drop by at some point.

While the EscapeArea() part of that function might not always work correctly, the Move() part does.

So I've been thinking some more about it, and given the below I actually think its an issue with one of the currently installed mods (or a combination):

 

1) I think the Uninstalled parts of SCS2 is a bit of a red herring.  I just got tired of what SCS did to spellcaster fights about halfway through the current campaign.  But similar issues predate that alteration.

 

2) I had Faren and Amber with me for periods of time earlier in the game - both before I uninstalled the SCS components.  And both of them behaved strangely when I removed them from the party.  They just stood where they were when removed, didn't acknowledge being dismissed, and when I talked to them simply showed the normal "in the party" PID menu.  They both had "I need you to leave" options in their PID, and selecting that made them properly continue on.  I didn't think much of it at the time because I wasn't planning to ask them back.  But the symptoms sound suspiciously similar to Isra's issue. I just didn't remember that when I posted last night since its been a while (my gaming happens in fits and starts).  

 

3) The only other issue I've had in the whole campaign is that I get a "STRING NOT FOUND" sort of error when I attempt to purchase a magic license from the Cowled Wizards.

 

So all that to say I don't think its actually anything to do with the Isra Mod in particular.  I think its more to do with my mod combination.

Very strange. I'm not sure it's necessarily the mod combination itself, but for those "// uninstalled" comments with SCS to still be showing up as well, I'm pretty sure something went wrong at some point during the installation. I'd definitely recommend wiping it when you've finished this playthrough and reinstalling completely.

Yeah, it's never a good idea to reinstall your mod stack mid-playthrough, or you can get errors (usually string errors more than anything else, but occasionally something more insidious).

I don't particularly doubt that a mid-playthrough uninstall can introduce issues.  

Its good advice, and I'll probably reinstall fresh before my next run-through.

But as noted above - this particular problem appears to predate the uninstall....

I was having similar issues with Faren and Amber *before* I uninstalled the SCS components.

 

Regardless, I appear to be good for the time being, and it doesn't look (to me) like its a larger

scale mod bug that needs debugging for other folks.

Ok im confused to where Isra is during BG2. I just got out of the prison and shes not in the pub, tavern, whichever I I can for the life of me find her. Unless she's suppose to appear later in the game and not before ._.

She should show up in the Den of Seven Vales. If she isn't, the first thing you should do is check your Weidu log to make sure she's properly installed. Then I'll help you troubleshoot.
