I had the same problem, there are few fixes but I found what worked for me is to simply CLUA kill one of the enemies for some reason its doesn't crash to desktop if you do this. After the dialogue, pause game and CTRL Y kill and its fine. I usually kill the dude to the left becuase that spear is a pain in the ass.

The last straw has offically been pulled....

I'm going to take this component and all other Tactics components not altered by BP, directly out of BP--and push them back on Tactics where they belong. The only one worth keeping in BP is the combined random encounters, because no other mod combines these successfully including Tactics. Besides, neither of these were original Tactics components. I had separate packs of both modders' work fused into BP, long before ever touching Tactics.

This isn't a new thought, inspired by this forum thread, or any sort of childish "tactic". I was going to do this in the BPv181 release, but was asked not to because "a new version of Tactics was coming soon". I was assured all the components contained in BP were in working order, too. Well, it's a year later and guess what? I think that the warranty has long since expired. Time for the meat hook, to finish the job I started.

Maybe removing them will finally inspire somebody to finish that job. Maybe Weimer will come out of retirement and address his own work, if he's really concerned about it. Honestly, I'm not concerned about it. Why should I be? I don't even enjoy playing most of the Tactics mod, and barely even know what is supposed to happen in its sections. Only the work of Gebhard Blucher and Kensai Ryu, that it contained, did I enjoy. I asked both of these modders separately for permission to include their work, long before ever talking to Weimer.

I only put the rest of the Tactics mod into BP, years and years ago, by other people's ongoing requests. They wanted this/that (and everything!) to work w/ the original 2003 3-mod mega-monstrosity I had fused together. And the old WeiDu of the day was nothing special. The components hopelessly overwrote the same files other mods like BP patched---unless I manually fused them together into 1 file. In other words, I added them by coercion and under extortion.

There's other reasons why I'm thinning out and tapering down BP, but I'll properly announce that in a few days when a certain game is released.

P.S: Just to be clear, I don't hate all of Weimer's works. In fact, mods like Item Upgrade, and in its day Ease of Use, are among my favorite mods of all time. I just didn't like the approaches being made (i.e., "the tactics") in Tactics. Especially and in particular--lots and lots of unblockable (ForceSpell) spell usage. Not just the pre-buffing you've grown used to in SCS and BP, which is logical enough. Always irritating when you go out of your way to block a spell, and succeed--just to have the bastard laugh at you and blast you to oblivion.

I took a quick look at this, while splitting up the encounter components into BP-originals, modder contributions, and Tactics components. I noticed that the code to extend the tops of AR3000.bcs (the area script for Watcher's Keep exterior) was still using the outmoded BCS file for extending, instead of a scource file (BAF). This "could have" led to some odd compilations, aka a bad script. So, I made source files instead of compiled snippets. I can't research it any further than this w/o spending a lot of hours I don't have. This affects both Red Badge and The Ritual.
