Hi, question regarding world map. By default in BWS, world map for BGT is selected.

Erhm, you have misundestood what the BWS does, the mods name includes BGT in it, but it's not specifically ONLY for BGT, It's specifically WORLDMAP mod, for all the Infinity Engine games... which include the EET too, if you want to install the RoT or any two of the dependent mods to the worldmap mod is made to combine. So yes, you need the worldmap mod for YOUR EET game too, even if it says BGT in the middle of it.

The worldmap mods name also includes the "BP" mods in itself, which is short for Big Picture, and there was a beta of it for BG2EE sometime ago... but NO, you don't need that either.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this question, but since it involves a recent BWS install, I thought I'd go ahead and ask.

My recent BGEE EET BWS install was showing some minor stuttering when my characters were walking, so I decided to run the generalized biffing mod.  It did not help, though, and I eventually fixed the stuttering by going into my game options, and under the Graphics settings I activated "Alternate Renderer".

Well, after installing generalized biffing, my game has now developed an irritating problem.  When moving my party of characters from one map area to another, the game will sometimes freeze, requiring me to restart my computer and then restart BGEE EET in order to fix the problem.  This is starting to happen more and more often, so is getting very irritating.

I've since learned from online posts that Generalized biffing is not really required for Enhanced Edition games, and may in fact cause problems

I am currently in Chapter 5 of BGEE EET.  Is it possible and safe for me to uninstall/remove Generalized Biffing to see if that will fix my game freezing when moving between map areas, or am I just stuck with the existing biffing situation?

Thanks.

Hi, maybe its caused by some mod, some others might require at least weidu.log

Third day of my BWS EET selection, progressing slow but safe, I hope :D. Reading component descriptions, reading different opinions in various threads.

It is hard to catch up, lots of changes from the last time I did mega mod installation, few years ago.

Basically I am trying to include as much content as I can, without unbalancing the game too much.

Right now I am stuck at EET tweaks components, the ones regarding XP, to be more precise.
Not so sure what to select here, and have a feeling I will totally screw up everything.

Can someone please comment on this? Roxanne, from your posts it is obvious you have a lot of experience with biggest selection possible.

Would you be so kind to give some recommendation? I included most of the big mods (including Sandrah), and quest mods in my selection.

Also, general question regarding EET current state. I see that modders are working on incorporating IWD into mega mod installation.

Do you have any insights on when will this become available? Is now a good time to do a mega mod playthrough, or maybe wait for IWD?

Appreciate your help.

!. Challenge Settings

I made best experience with EET games (big mods + Sandrah included) with having SCS installed, setting game difficulty to Core Rules and de-selecting “Max HP on level up” and “No difficulty increased damage”.

I use these SCS components

Spoiler

I use EET_Tweaks with these settings

~EET_TWEAKS/EET_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #2002 // Total XP CAP -> Disabled:
~EET_TWEAKS/EET_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #2040 // XP for Traps, Spells and Lockpicking -> BG1 values (default):
~EET_TWEAKS/EET_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #2052 // XP for killing creatures -> Decrease to 50%:
~EET_TWEAKS/EET_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #2062 // XP for quests -> Decrease to 50%:
~EET_TWEAKS/EET_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #3000 // Disable hostile reaction after charm:
~EET_TWEAKS/EET_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #4030 // Remove junk from global scripts:
~EET_TWEAKS/EET_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #4040 // Import party items to SoA:

The game is overall challenging but not a total tactical affair - like yourself, I like content but still want the battles to be meaningful.

Enemies act intelligent and there is a lot of variety in the encounters. My party came out of BG1 and into SoD at appropriate level, so  SoD stayed interesting from the difficulty level. Coming into BG2 a bit higher in level than normal (due to SoD and ALL BG1 big mods done) is compensated by the increased difficulty of BG2 overall.

2. IWD-in-EET

There was some hope that this would become available with the 2.5 patch of the vanilla game. But K4thos has not been seen for a long time now and no news was published. I would not wait for it to appear any time soon. Even without it, a complete play through the Saga with everything available today is a big adventure. But it is for you to decide, this is just personal opinion and I have absolutely no knowledge about if or when there will be an IWD-in-EET.

hehe I use some more challenge settings.. like 35% of XP from killing and quests .. but I have max hp per level. I didnt know there is option to disable difficulty damage. Even I have that big reduction, im about to go to bandit camps and mine party is lvl 6-7, just lvl up from high lvl spells.. forgot to reduce a bit the XP reward for learning spells :D

I am thinking about going to the 35% for my next install as well. But this is largely due to the fact that I *foreshadow* most events in the game and cannot pretend all times that I do not know what will happen or how some foe can be defeated.

Many thanks for quick reply! Seeing your post, I am happy to know that I was thinking in the same direction.

I think I will even go with 35% as konva suggested.

What about the money? I assume there will be loads of it, with so much stuff from all these mods.

If I remember correctly, there were options in some tweaks to reduce money from selling stuff etc. Are those available for EET also?

Btw how do I obtain vampire's revenge? I need that relic from the archeological dig + firewine armor and that book from duke eltan?

The mod that used to be available was Aurora for the classic game. It never made it into EE/EET because it also did a lot of graphical stuff that has changed in the EE. Not sure there is any for EET.

I have to confess that I buy and sell very little myself, also I never use containers or carry loads of stuff around. Only interesting thing in such a modded game is probably amunition but I rather use e.g. returning daggers than slings so I need not care.

Once you are beyond 5000gp in BG1, it becomes irrelevant. In BG2 the only sum of interest is the money for Brynlaw which is set by mod to 80.000. In ToB, money is not relevant at all anymore.

If you have the Vault mod installed, you need the book as well. Of course it will be stolen from you when you leave Baldur's Gate with it and you need to hunt it again before you can continue the quest.

Note that the quest is slightly different with the various combinations of mods you may have installed, (NTotSC or The Vault or both or none).

SPWI819 is an invoker school spell, at least in my install. But maybe it is not even the same spell, depending on which mods you may have installed that can affect spells and spellcasters.

The origin of that scroll is DSotSC mod and then the spell itself has been modified by a number of other mods. So what? From your list, at least SR and M+G may affect usability.

If you want to find out, you look for SCRLDS84.ITM in the SpellRevision/backup/0 - you copy it into BG2EE/override and you get the item as it was originally intended.

So quick to judgment! :P And yet wrong. Original intent? Must we never be allowed to play with house rules? Are we chained to the books, fun be damned? Such a strict DM!

I have no idea what spell that is or what mod introduces it, or why you can't learn it. But I'll suggest a hint:

Be aware, scrolls have nothing to do with spell learning. (MnG only patches that scroll's usability by thieves, if you're interested.)

You have to look at the .SPL file to figure out the usability restrictions, and then figure out how they interact with your kit (which you haven't mentioned).

- But it's probably not a Necromancy spell. In which case, be aware, scrolls have nothing to do with spell learning. You have to look at the .SPL file to figure out the usability restrictions, and then figure out how they interact with your kit (which you haven't mentioned).

How do I find which SPL belongs to that scroll? Btw its from Dark Side of Sword Coast.. in original BG, it hurls lightning bolt, like lvl 3 spell, but the dmg is much higher.. here in EET somehow nerfed spell, description says 12D4 dmg.. seems weak for a lvl 8th tier. And above I mention that im pure mage.. pure without any specialisations.. so I can learn all spells and I dont remember that I have some mods like tome & blood which causes some restrictions to spells :)

Find the scroll in NI/DLTCEP, and it should have an opcode 147 effect (assuming it's a wizard spell). The resource .SPL in that effect is the spell; then look up the .SPL and check it's usability flags.

How those flags interact with your character can get complicated, and is not always apparent at a glance. You need to compare them against your class and kit, and the usability hex code assigned to your kit in kitlist.2da.

If you tell us your class and kit and which spell/tweak mods you have installed, I might be able to figure it out.
