Looking through my email today, I found what I assume is a rather poor phishing attempt playing off the shsforums domain. If anyone else here gets a similar email: ignore it (or better, delete it). Keep in mind how dangerous it can be to give out personal information over the internet, especially to people you don't know and over unencrypted networks.
"Ok, I've just about had my FILL of riddle asking, quest assigning, insult throwing, pun hurling, hostage taking, iron mongering, smart-arsed fools, freaks, and felons that continually test my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours, I want to hear it pretty damn quick or I'm going to take a large blunt object roughly the size of Elminster AND his hat, and stuff it lengthwise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot rusty halberd! Have I MADE myself perfectly CLEAR?!"

I trawl the forums every now and then and remove spam. Please keep reporting it as it makes it easier to find.
I've also asked K'aeloree about what he wants to do for a longer term solution. It's up to him to decide how to handle it.

Very misleading ads!
Adblock Plus. Don't launch a browser without it. Personally, I'm ok with the SHS admins getting a few extra bucks to pay for the site this way (as long as I can block it on my side). But it would be nice if they could check their inboxes occasionally. I hope they could also do something to help the previous user who posted over a month ago...

Guess you missed the short window, unless he got to your request too. My "Speak With Dead" spell doesn't have a very long duration, and I'm all out of them. He said to email or tweet next time we need admin stuff, but I don't have those details, so if anyone else does, I'd appreciate it.

Malicious Advertisements
While visiting the forums, I've very rarely been redirected to a malicious web page. Here are screenshots from two separate occasions:

The pages play an annoyingly loud alarm sound when they open.
I wasn't entirely sure that it was as a result of visiting shsforums.net, but both times I've been loading a page here when it happened. Last time, I scanned my PC for malware and didn't find any. My suspicion is that it's being caused by an ad running on the site.
Has anyone else encountered the same thing?

I have experienced this despite using Adblock Plus and a variety of other anti-spyware/malware utilities. My work firewall blocks it, but it tends to slip through my personal one.

While we're talking about forum issues. I have noticed some problems with loading times for any pages linked on the "View new Content" page lately. It takes up to ten seconds before the linked page even starts loading. Opening the same urls directly or from outside "View new Content" works normally though.
Otherwise, I have no issues with email notifications, here or on any other IE modding boards. They are usually delivered within seconds after a comment or PM was being made.
