Hello everyone,

I am doing a BWP for the first time.  i installed a easy version.  I have killed Sarevok and have returned to palace.  When I am being teleported, I am getting a error of Assertion failed chVideo cpp at line number 8641 and game is locking up.  Any ideas on how to fix?  Thanks

Try getting as much user gained info as you can by enabling the ToBEx debug:

Troubleshooting
---------------
First, make sure that TobEx is actually the issue.
You can forcefully disable TobEx from running by renaming TobEx.dll in your game directory.

For more debugging information:
1. Open TobEx_ini/TobExCore.ini in a simple text editor.
2. Under the [Debug] section, set all values of 0 to 1.
3. Try to reproduce your error in-game. TobEx may sometimes reports some extra information about the error.
4. Report any errors you find on the Spellhold Studios forums. Expect to be asked to attach a .zip of your saved game folder, WeiDU.log, TobEx.log, TobExCore.ini, and TobExTweak.ini.

Hopefully it's more than this:

ASSERTION FAILED!

Msg: no msg.
Run Debugger?

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Hai Peeps!

I just got this same error.  It happens when i try to leave the Pocket Plane.  I have killed Yaga-Shura and completed the second challenge. I have run with this toon since BG1 with no problems till now.

I have tried to use the suggestions above.  I dont have a ToBEx.ini. I have a Baldur.ini with no debug section but one line i installed called Debug Mode=1.

My ToBEx.log says this:  -----TobEx: Throne of Bhaal Extender build 0.19.2.19 (Tue 29 Jul 2014 08:43:25)
[Tue 29 Jul 2014 08:44:27] ASSERTION FAILED! Return Address: 0x9BB85B File: ChVideo.cpp Line: 8641 Expression: surfaceDesc.lpSurface != NULL Message: (null)

I disabled ToBEx.dll and got the same error.

Here is my weidu.log

I don't know how to attach my saved game yet 'cause i cant find the attach file button.

I was also wondering if i could ctrl+j to a different area, if I knew an area code that would be allowed to jump to in ToB?

It appears i have manipulated the game beyond it's capacity.  I have tried previous saves and everything works fine till i try to use shadowkeeper to manipulate inventory.  The edited saves all produce a failure.

I found the ToBEx folder which contains the ToBEx ini's and read them. Debug is set to verbose now.

I tried compatibility with windows and using OpenGL instead of directdraw and a few other things i don't have in mind atm.

At this point i can manipulate and diagnose effectively using the logs produced by debugging.

On a positive note - I am forever grateful to the peeps that maintain this website and the help this community has to offer as well as the amount of work that has gone into the mods to make a good game GREAT!

Näh, you just did it wrong... see there's a generally accepted install order and yours is off from it by miles. To get that install order, you just need to use the latest BWS.

The install also comes with tens of thousands small fixes which will make the game far more stable.
