I've no idea if this is a bug from one of the megamods or even if this is the correct forum, but I've searched and searched and find nothing that helps.

In Elven Woods/Bear River/Ogre something (sorry, can't remember the full title), one of the modifications changed Jared and Laurel to wood elves and changed the Ogre to a wood elf named Fey doch, who simply tells me to be on my way quickly and offers no quest no matter which comment I choose.

Neville is the only original quest still there and his cohorts are hobgoblins...no idea if they are supposed to be hobgoblins.  Jared's bear is still there but no Jared so no quest.  No Laurel, so no quest.  No Ogre so no quest.

I've reloaded several times and, occasionally, a frightened dog named Cooshee shows up but no idea what to do with him either.

So, can anyone tell me which, if any, of the mods is creating this change?  If it is a mod and not a glitch of sorts, what am I supposed to do with Jared's bear, the wood elves calling for good berries, Fey doch, and if anything of equal value replaced the quests that were traded out.

I'm sorry if this seems confusing and appreciate any help that can be offered.

I *think* this is from Dark Side of the Sword Coast. (IIRC, was sort of a suboptimal way to implement its content; with newer techniques we can add the content without changing existing creatures etc.)

Well actually area is Northern Wood (AR40PB.ARE) and it's from Northern Tales of the Sword Coast (NTotSC) not DSotSC. ^_^

Area has nothing to do with Bear River (AR3499.ARE area code in BGT). It's just look like same. Quests, encounters, actors and everything else are different.

Northern Wood is north-east and Bear River is south from Baldur's Gate

You can check area code by pressing X.

If you have Jared, Keelor or Laurel at Northern Wood (AR40PB.ARE) or If you have Fey'doch or Llindelin at Bear River (AR3499.ARE) your install is probably broken.

Neville should not be at Northern Wood and i have never encounted Cooshee (from DSotSC).

Post your Weidu.log.

Thank you both for responding.  X does nothing when I press it but L gives me the cursor coordinates and says area 4600.  It's the wilderness area just immediately above the gnoll fortress and to the left of the Xvart Village on the other side of the river. The dudleyville.com walkthrough calls this area Bear River but browsing through the forum, gave names like Elven Woods and Ogres Retreat or something like that.

I don't know how to post the weidu log nor even where to find it.

Earlier in the game, I was unable to get the Joseph's ring quest as the commoner in Joseph's house acted as any commoner.  Only after many, many reloads did she finally talk to me and give the quest.

I've no idea what I did wrong.  Too many conflicting mods, I guess, although I tried very hard to follow the instructions for multiples and only installed those that, supposedly, did not conflict.  I did try the BGT instuctions but was so mind boggled about it all that I ended up installing the mods individually.

I'll post the weidu log if you'd be kind enough to explain how I go about doing so.  Yes, I did install the Northern Tales so, perhaps, with the area visual files being borrowed from one to create the other, I did something in the install order that mixes up the NPC/quest files between the two?

I don't know how to post the weidu log nor even where to find it.

It's in your game folder, you open the file with Notepad and copy paste the text to a message...

Looking the area from dudleyville is wrong as it only shows the original areas with the wrong area associations, as they are the BG1's, not BGTs, and using area names that are in forum gives you a lot of grief... what comes to the X and L keys, you probably have just a different/custom Keymap.ini with the

....
[Keymap Miscellaneous]
...

Location=L

Instead of the standard X in BG2... ouh cheese, yeah he is playing the game in BG1.

It's actually highly unlikely that you actually got the "area 4600" printed out onto the dialog window... it's likely to have been "ar4600", which is this area in BGT(ar5500 in BG1).

If you actually wish to play the BGT game, you start it by running the BGMain.exe in the BG2 directory. It takes you to the BG2 game, yes, but you'll soon find out that you actually start at the Candlekeep, as if you were starting the BG1 game with the BG2's interface, looks, kits etc.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

No problems glad if i could help.

Oh you have non-BGT game so Bear River is AR4600.

What!!!! You play BG game without EasyTutu or BGT. I think that's the cause of your problems.

Do like Imp says above.

What install guide did you use, i don't think that was up-to-date.

You should read BWP pdf guide here. It might be "little" overwhelmig though.

Or if you are familiar with some other languages (german russian or spanish) get it here along with other BWP downloads.

Or you could use BWS to download/install all the mods you like, get it here.

Thank you both so much, although I'm afraid that in the end, I'll be a waste of your time.  I spend days trying to do the BGT to install the mods and maps, but it was all so unbelievably overwhelming and I could never figure out where I went wrong when things didn't work so just gave up on it.  I've never tried Easy Tutu either as...well you can tell I'm not very game savvy.  Anyway, here is the very long weidu.log.

As you can see, I'm not one for the most difficult game.   I'm more interested in playing the stories these wonderful mods add to the game than struggling with battles and dying all the time.  Again, I appreciate the time and effort you are giving me. :)

I don't remember, at this point, which install guide I used but it was from this site.  Yes, I did try to navigate the BWP pdf and it was more than a little overwhelming.  LOL    In fact, it may have been the listing of compatible mods in that pdf that I used to decide the order of installing the mega and story mods.  Any other mods, not offered from this site (I'm not sure there even are any) would have been installed afterwards.

Well your install order seems just fine.

Did you use Baldudash FixPack v1.1 here before installing mods. It's only thing i can think of that could help you if you re-install. I haven't played vanilla BG1 in years (only BGT).

Sorry that i can't help you any further.

No, I did not use the fix as I'm pretty sure one of those installs specifically said NOT to.   I could try to install it now or will it only work if installed prior?  I do appreciate all the help you gave. Thank you so much.

Usually fixpacks go first and i do NOT recommend to install it now. Because fixpack overwrites mod modified files and breaks totally your game.

Well i don't know what those mods say about Baldurdash Fixpack but if some mod says not to install it then don't install it. Mod author knows better than me.

Update:

Have you tried BWS here. You can make quite easily BG game you like. It downloads and installs mods for you. I don't use it so i can't help you with it but there are probably others who can help you if have problems..

Thank you.  I'm not sure if that is the installer that I used.  It certainly looks familiar but I had been previously trying to do the BGT, which I believe uses that.  I'll look into it and everything else that has been so kindly recommended.  Time to start from scratch again.

EDIT:  Just thought of this and don't know if it has any bearing.  I'm using BG from the Dungeons & Dragons Anthology Master Collection.  I do not have the Extended Edition.

As far as i know BWS of BWP install-bat don't work on BG1EE or BG2EE versions.

You just need BG1 and BG2 old versions. I think that your collection is ok.

Well, you are a couple of editions in behind then... as in, the BWS has a BG1EE chart in BWS, and there might be one for 2EE too... but of course there's no BGTEE, and the BGT won't work on the EE games, so there's no Enhanced Edition Baldur's Gate Trilogy as a possibility.
