Finally trying to get some mods going, and the first is this one.  It sounds amazing.

These are both off GOG.  I moved them to their own "Black Isle" directory.  C:\Black Isle...

I ran the mod install, and everything seemed to go well.  Went through it all, and it finished...

I go to run BG2 (or ToB I guess), and it asks me to set the difficulty.  After that, I get:

An Assersion Failed in  CHDimm.cpp at line number 628

Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:DATA\HD0GMOSC,BIF

I uninstalled everything and started over, and get the same thing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to this new experience of a classic!

Give us the setup-bgt.debug content... It's likely that you failed to configuration the game when you moved it.
The simplest way to actually install the mod is to first of all install the GoG version of the game. Then run the games until it auto saves after the new game is started with a pre-generated character, then exist the game and make a backup from it(make a .rar archive out of the the whole BG2 game directory), and then install the BG2 Fixpack and other mods and the BGT-weidu too.

Remember that if you move the game folder, you need to open the baldur.ini file in the game directory and re-path the [Alias] -paths so they point to the current directory. Or you will never be able to actually start the game.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

I'm at work now, but I'll bet it's that I moved it.  I was reading that it didn't work well in the default directory, which is why I was moving it, but I wasn't touching the .ini file.  I did start games in both and quicksaved them both.

Awesome, I'll try just leaving them in that directory tonight.  Thank You!

If you have the Windows Vista, Windows 7 or 8, you can't modify the Program Files sub folder games because the OS protects them from being modified. So that's usually not a way to go either.

Edit the baldur.ini file with Notepad, so that the [Alias] -paths match the new folder !!!
