I am trying to find the spell that irenicus uses on the shadow thief at the beggining of the game when he gets taken away first he kills a thief (the one throwing daggers at him with a cool spell with a small kinda call lightning effect which he also uses on imoen in a dream but it doesnt kill her. anyway I looked and it said the spell was a power word kill spell but I looked three spells called power word kill which were the only ones I could find in the whole game and none have that lightning animation. If anyone knows what I am talking bout and can help then please do I would appreciate it.
Thanks for picture Immy :)

I'm really unsure, but I think that, that spell is nothing more than a visual effect in a "play dead" or "play hurt" script, otherwise he would've used in at least one of his actual battles. I could be wrong though, and I hope I'm wrong. Sorry.

You'll need to take a look at the cutscene BCS for this as I suspect it will be a spell cast from the script.

how come you always look so damn cool in every photo I see you in?!?

Speaking of modding, I listened to IER 3 yesterday, so you can have another quote for your signature: how come you sound so damn cool, as well as look it? It's unfair. Seriously.

Still a cyberjock, still hacking the matrix, still unsure of what that means.

Bioware was very nice in labeling cutscenes CUTxxx.bcs. The cutscene upon exiting the irenicus' dungon are cut01x.bcs

The Visual file is:

CALLIGH.VVC

The animation itself is:

SPCALLI.BAM.

Enjoy  ;)

Well since you already have the VVC file then all you need to do is this:
1. Open up your spell with IEEP
2. Add the "Play 3d Effect" header to your spell in "spell effects"
3. type in the name of your VVC in the resource key field in this case (CALLIGH.VVC)
4. probability should be 0-100%, target should be "pretarget" if you want it for a chosen target and that's it leave the rest of the fields alone. You've assigned the visual effect to your spell!

Oops forgot one more thing: in the "Play 3d effect" window there is a "click to edit paramaters" panal, click it and a new box will appear, in that new box place the value you want from the dialog box (in this case '1' as you wnat the effect to appear over the target, no?) in the "effect state" field.

When creating custom visual effects to any spell be sure you have both: "VVC utility" and "BAM workshop" both found HERE.

All you have to do is create your own BAM assign it to a VVC file and assign the VVC file to your spell, the same way we did before.

Also there is a little "graphics" panal under the "spell effect header " if you find the visual effect you want there, then you do not hve to da all this.

Hope I was helpful. Good luck in making your spell :) .

IEEP seems to be really outdated.

Try using DLTCEP. igiTeamBG has also thankfully written us a more or less complete DLTCEP guide, which helps modding newbies a great deal. :D

I wrote a small guide on setting up DLTCEP:
http://tutorials.tea...pentut&tutID=55

And I am writing a guide to using DLTCEP:
http://www.teambg.net/~igi/dltcept/
It'll be finished in January, after exams, and work.

Is igi's dltcep tutorial still available somewhere else?

Also, just out of curiosity, is igi still active? haven't seen him on the teambg.eu forums, and cant seem to find any of his mods listed there.

That's because the teambg existing now is run by completely different people than it was back then. There's no link between the two apart from the domain, really. The current incarnation is primarily run by CoM_Solaufein of Chosen of Mystra.

igi is not active in the community anymore, but DLTCEP has instructions on how to set it up. Look for a text file with 'setup' in the name.

Also, in general, it's best to create new topics than digging up old ones. :)
