Well the
weidu mods today use character sets specified to the language in use, and the setup.tra file during the install phase(this uses the UTF-8 whitout BOM), so that won't have the ß and umlauts, ö/Ö, ä/Ä or å/Å characters, but the language specific files can have them.
So the dialog and item descriptions for example for what ever language is used gives the unique characters for that language using the language encoding used in the rest of the .tra files. In the
BGT-weidu v1.18 the german files(in BGT118-Install.rar\
bgt\language\german/setup.tra file at least) has the ü and ö's from what I took a quick glance out of, I used the Notepad++ program and at least in it, with the "Encoding in ANSI" it had those letters. Did you use the German language during the choise of the language ? And what is your Windows language ? And what's the base language of your
BG2 and
BG1 ?
i found some info about converting the tra files with notepad ++ from ANSI to UFT-8 w/o BOM <- also tried that still same result.
So presumably you did the exact opposite what you should have done, as you are not a translator, but a regular player who does not need to do a thing.

OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.
