If we're talking about fixes, I'm experiencing problems with game movement in some areas with heavy water overlays. The worst is the second Cloakwood area with the spiders. Game just completely stops or freezes when more than one NPC is moving. With one NPC - no problems. It happens only in few areas. Another area which is not that bad but still causes these freezes (or frame rate retardation) is the one next to Candlekeep. It happens in different installations of BGT over original BG2 or GOG BGT. It may have something with wide screen and high resolution which I always play with. I won't go deep into this matter as I detest area graphics and everything connected to that, but you may look into this problem.

Turn the ambient sounds off when there's slowdown. Point 4.2 in this FAQ of mine. The game handles this all on it's own with the said settings, so the ambient sounds and footstep noises come back when they do not cause slowdown.

It has nothing to do with the graphics, just that you see more space with the Widescreen mod, and so there's more ambient sound sources, and that's teh killer.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Oh, you made a huge work there

Yes, it works, thanks. But then I think it's better to decrease the radius of the ambient sounds in those few areas than to wait until people come here and ask the same question or just drop those areas or the whole game. Do you really think someone except modders would read that very long FAQ and arrive to the point he is interested in and realize what does it mean:

2. Put the ambient sounds off from the BGConfig.exe, as some of the areas might have no ambient sounds and so the game tries to start them many time continuously, and so looses processing power. So the baldur.ini should have these:

Low Mem Sounds 1=0 Low Mem Sounds 2=1

But for modders, this is really great.  :new_thumbs:

Nope. Not really. I use the FAQ as a point to point towards to and as a reminder, as it's kinda the collected memories I have about the game, and I know it's a huge wall of text. It was a long time ago I wrote the thing and it would deserve a few good edits were I able to make them but it's not upto it anymore as I lost both the password to the account and the Email to it.
Anyways, I am glad that you see the benefit of reading the thing.

The thing that's good also is that most of those points in the FAQ are already generally coded into the BWP/BWS fixes/tweaks, so the above for example should be auto changed during the BiG World installs, if the tools are used to do so. Yes, it leaves the ones that do not use them out, but they are likely on their own anyways..

IPB admins should have the ability to change your email address, issue a password reset, and even merge members. You might want to inquire about that (when the admins are available).
