Hello everyone, for the last 5 hours I've been trying to install BGT by all possible ways with no success.

I have the GoG version of both BG and BG2. What I do is a clean install of BG. Then a clean install of BG2 (I don't even start BG1, although I've made the tet by starting the game and the end result is the same). Then I install BG2 FixPack and finally try to install BGT.

The problem is, when I run the setup-bgt, a cmd window pops up and immediately closes. The log says:

WeiDU v 23100 Log

 D:\Jogos\Baldur's Gate 2\setup-bgt.exe
 version = 23800
Newest WeiDU is version 23800, updating!
WeiDU files in version order:
  [setup-widescreen.exe] version 23800
  [setup-ub.exe] version 23800
  [setup-bgt.exe] version 23100
[setup-widescreen.exe] loaded, 975360 bytes
    Copying [setup-widescreen.exe] -> [setup-bgt.exe]: false

Here's what I've already tried/checked:

Full uninstall and reinstall.

The games are on a custom directory at a second partition, at D:/Games, not on program files.

They are the GoG version, so are up to date in terms of patches.

One thing I noticed is that after I finish installing BG2, the DDrawFix doesn't work because it can't modify the BGain.exe file. It is a permission problem that I ccan't seem to be able to fix. After that, I'm forced to copy the BGMain.exe file from the DDrawFix backup folder.

Any ideas? Anyone know what could be going on? Thanks!

One of the .exe's in the directory is in a read only state, for what ever reasons, and the Weidu would like to update it, but it can't because of the mentioned state. You can delete the setup-bgt.exe and copy for example the setup-ub.exe and rename it as the setup-bgt.exe and then run it, but the fact that the weidu can't update the file would lead me to instruct you to install the game to the your windows profiles Documents folder, because that might be the only directory where you have full control. As the Windows might restrict your access to everywhere else, aka not using the Programs Files folder might not be enough(yes, a double negative).

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I unchecked the read only box for everything on the folder but it didn't help. Also i fixed the permission problems by giving me full control over the BG2 folder and making myself owner of it. Still, no good. The log says the same thing.

Is it a problem with my Weidu version? I downloaded an installer from weidu.org but I don't know if it will fix it. I tryed to install it but nothing seemed to happen.

Is it a problem with my Weidu version?
No. The BWS uses the v23800 and no one has written a complaint about this lately(there were these things before, but those were dealt with), so the likely option is your Windows version.

PS: the Windows 7's Documents are in;
C:\Users\<username>\Searches\Documents\
While the Windows 10's Documents should be in:
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\
So if you have 10, I would suggest installing the game to C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Games\BGII - SoA\ or C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\BGII - SoA\ -folders. Where the <username> is of course your Windows user name, even if it's "-" without the quotes. Yes, I have a very creative username in my laptop...

I have windows 7 64bit. I'll try reinstalling everything on another directory to see if it solves (tho I have already tried about 4 directories).

Did you try the manual delete-copy-rename I instructed above ? When the .exe is not running, aka there's no cmd.exe window.

Hah. All the setup-modname.exe files are just renamed weidu.exe's that take commands from the same'like named setup-modname.tp2 files, that's why the version upkeep is actually important. There's nothing sorcery about it, it's wizardry(as if there was a difference). :devil:
