Just wanted to ask if someone experienced could give me some advice as to whether it's feasible to add mods mid-game on top of a biffed BWS installation. I only get to play BGT every odd decade or so ( :P ) and I've been on it for almost a year now already and enjoying it thoroughly. The whole Big World has become much more bug free than I remember it, kudos! Barely about to take off for Spellhold atm, and while browsing the community and vaguely making party plans for ToB, I came across some new releases that I'd just hate for not to see themselves play out in this game. Is there any chance it would be possible to add sth like a minor questmod that only affects the yet-to-be-played portion of the game anyway, on top of a biffed megamod install without screwing up? And if so, what should I pay attention to in order to make it work (other than making a backup, ofc)? Specific mods in question would be

Reunion, a questmod for ToB (this I have less worries about...)

...and an upgrade for the Imoen Romance to include ToB content (from v2.5 to v3.0)

If anyone has tried his hands on similar shenanigans and would share his experiences, I'd be mighty grateful!

Generally speaking, adding a new mod on top of a biffed game is not a problem, given there are no dependencies on other mods or install sequence. Reunion should give you no problem.

The Imoen upgrade will cause issues since you have already installed an earlier version and very much early in your sequence. So upgrading will attempt to uninstall the old version before installing the new - but to do this, ALL mods after the old Imoen mods will be first uninstalled and then reinstalled. This will break your whole installation due to some mods you have that do not support this procedure.

edit - there is a very small chance to get Imoen to work as well. You can try it and see if it works with no penalty, if it does not, you have lost nothing.

For this, make a copy of Weidu.log outside of the game folder. Edit the Weidu.log in the game folder with a text editor and delete these lines and save.

~IMOENROMANCE/SETUP-IMOENROMANCE.TP2~ #0 #0 // Imoen NPC Romance Mod for BG2:SoA (2.5 Version!): 2.5
~IMOENROMANCE/SETUP-IMOENROMANCE.TP2~ #0 #1 // Romance Option -> Allow Multiple Romance's: 2.5

Run the setup of Imoen 3.0, it should install like a new mod now. You may or may not encounter some dialogue lines to trigger twice (depends very much on what you have done with Imoen in the game so far.). If there are issues that bother you too much, you can simply uninstall the Imoen 3.0. The game will restore the previous dialogues without further actions, so you will be back to where you were before. (Restore your original Weidu.log afterwards)

Note - these are practical hints for those mods discussed in this thread, they cannot be generally applied to other cases. Every case of adding/reinstalling mods during gameplay must be analysed individually.

Wow I can't believe how quick that answer came! SHS is still the best, apparently! Thanks so much!

I made a backup and will try your suggestion tomorrow. It does make a lot of sense, and I'm not above editing some variables with NI to make it fit the new version. And since I haven't had any Imoen content yet anyway, it shouldn't be too much of a problem - would have never thought of 'fooling' weidu as a workaround. Wickedly smart!

So happy to give little sis' a chance at her own happily-ever-after with Aerie!

Just in case anyone else wants to try sth similar - I played on and got the Imoen rejoin dialogue; everything seems to work as intended as far as I can tell.
