Hi All:

I assume I will need to post this on G3 also.

I am having a graphics problem.  The screen resolution of my 27" monitor is 1920 x 1080.  Great for my eyes when I am not playing BGT games.  When I installed my BGT game, with BWS and Widescreen, Widescreen defaulted to 1920 x 1080.  The game graphics were great and showed a large area, but every thing was too small to really play the game.  I reinstalled the game and set Widescreen to 1280 x 768 and the game graphics were horrible.  Only ~ 1/8 of the area was visible. Previously I could rerun Widescreen (it is the last mod installed) and adjust the game resolution until I found a comfortable creature size.  This no longer works.

Here is a list of what has changed.

Updates to the graphics driver.  The driver is AMD Vulkan Graphics API, which claims to be compatible with Open GL.

BWS now uses Widescreen-master-zip.  I assume this loads G3 Widescreen-3.07.exe which should not make any difference if this was used.

Now when I run Widescreen again to adjust the resolution, I get an error.

FAILURE:

ERROR: [bgmain.exe] -> [bgmain.exe] Patching Failed (COPY) (Failure("EXE PATCHING FAILED.")

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Has anyone had problems with AMD Vulkan Graphics API?

My guess is that another mod has altered bgmain.exe.  Can anyone suggest which mod this could be.  (There probably are a few.)

I will forward this to G3 in a while.

Thanks for any help,

Tom

Copy paste the entire widescreen mods .debug files content... open the file of course with Notepad... that will tell what off with it.
The vulkan drives could give you problems...
But if this is a new computer we are talking, and you have a wrong kind of graphical card, then the game defaults to using the 1920 x 1080 as a monitor resolution while showing the smaller resolution you put (1280 x 768 into the Widescreen mod) inside a bobble that can be off center and what not. Solution: throw the graphic card away from the computer, and if it's attached to the processor, get a new computer with a dedicated graphical card inside. Anything other that Inter should be fine. As Intel makes CPU/GPU combination cards that are the problem(NVIDIA GeForce 7 Series motherboard GPUs) .. cause they lack the resolution selection options.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Hi The Imp:

I really appreciate your comments.  You have been a great help.  I wish I knew half as much as you know about these games.

Some history:

The computer is about two years old. It has an Asus A78M-A motherboard, an AMD A10-7850K processor with Radeon R7 on board graphics and 4 math cores and 8 graphics cores, 32 GB RAM, and an Asus VE278 27.2" monitor.

I ran two BGT games (similar to this last one) before any AMD updates without any screen problems.  I used Widescreen to modify the resolution after the games were installed without problems.

Then there were two AMD software updates.  The first change the maximum screen resolution, increasing it from 1920 x 1080 to 2560 x 1440.  The second did not affect the screen resolution.

The first  AMD software update caused problems and I needed to call Asus to get it fixed.  It was trying to install an earlier update over the later software that was installed.

Here is the debug file:  Attached File  SETUP-WIDESCREEN.DEBUG   60.77K   99 downloads

Thanks again,

Tom

You need to install the latest patch (which would be Trials of the Luremaster if you're on Heart of Winter) and make sure you aren't installing the mod twice (which includes attempting to install it on EasyTutu or a cloned install when it is already installed on your main install).

...weidu.log's content...

... I can't know what's wrong with that without making up stuff that might be not true at all.

I would suggest a totally new install ... and this time before anything at all, make a manual Widescreen mod install so you know what setting is good ... and then make a megamod install.

But before that, try and adjust the desktop resolution so that it has the 1920 x 1080 or smaller resolution to find out what the exact resolution you want the game to run at ... and then the ATI program that you have should allow you to have a custom setup for each game, so enabling that for BG2 should make it easy to see and have gigantic resolution for the other programs.

Hi The Imp:

I was just doing what you suggested.  I plan to run BGII - SoA with Widescreen and keep changing resolutions until I found one that is comfortable for me.  Then I will install the mega mod BGT game using that resolution.

Yep.

I would assume that you had installed the BWS's Clean up tool or what ever it's named... but, like I said, assumption. That would make any and all mods NOT uninstallable.
