Hi All:

Here is what I did:

  1. Went to Spellhold Studios Mega Mod Help forum "Big World Setup (an attempt to update the program)"
  2. From post #1, downloaded the the latest BWS version with the red "DOWNLOAD"
  3. I received the file BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-c62511da4cb0.zip
  4. Extracted the file and got the folder BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-c62511da4cb0
  5. Opened the folder and got two folders and several files
  6. I ran Start Big World Startup - Without Update.vbs and got the error message

    Windows Script Host

    C:\Users\DrTom\AppData\Local\Temp\Temp3_BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-c62511da4cb0.zip\BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-c62511da4cb0\Start Big World Startup - Without Update.vbs

    Line:        9

    Char:       3

Error:       The system cannot find the file specified.

    Code:      80070002

    Source:   (null)

How do I get the latest working BWS file?

Thanks for any help,

Tom

This is the latest version afaik. Where did you extract the file? I would advise to extract it into a C:\ Folder.

Which windows version are you running on? Your Error code seems to be mostly associated with Windows Update errors with temp files though it could just be a coincidence.

Hi GrimLefourbe:

Thanks for the fast responce.

BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-c62511da4cb0.zip was downloaded to my desktop and moved to my Computer/D:/Black Isle/BWS folder.  I then extracted it and let it make the normal folders.  I have used this many times with BWS and never had any errors loading the games.

The setup is an Asus A78M-A motherboard with AMD A10-7850K Radeon R7, 12 cores 4C, 8G and 32 MB of Ram.  The operating system is Windows 7 Professional (x64) SP 1.  This also has been used many time with BWS and never had any errors loading the games.

I had a game running on this system.  I went to fix a game bug (did this before) with Nearinfinity and hit the wrong key at the right time and mess up the game.

Thanks again,

Tom

Well, the error definitely happens in a Temporary folder, does it happen 100% of the time? Did you change any security parameter maybe ?

Hi GrimLefourbe:

Yes, I tried several downloads of the file and it happens to all of them.  I finally opened up the file.  I can get the general idea of what it is doing, but I do not see any obvious misspelled word.  Nothing has been change on my computer except for getting Microsoft Updates last week.

Thanks again,

Tom

Welp I don't really know. Maybe check if any parameters got reset by the updates? Try disabling your antivirus? This tempfolder thing is weird.

Hi GrimLefourbe:

I am tracking down the error code 80070002.  Lots of sites claiming to help, but only for a high price.  I will check with Microsoft to get more information.

Thanks again,

I need to get some rest.

The path in the error message above included .zip, suggesting you were running the vbs script while still inside the compressed folder, not in an extracted folder...?

BiG World Fixpack (community collection of mod fixes and compatibility patches, with user-friendly cross-platform script)

BiG World Setup (tool to automate best-practice installation of Infinity Engine mods on Windows, with conflict analysis)

Latest version:    https://bitbucket.or.../get/master.zip

Yeah that's probably it actually, the extracting software extracts into a tempfolder which caused the tempfile related error code. Nice catch.

Thank you agb1 and GrimLefourbe.

The problem was that BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-c62511da4cb0.zip and BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-c62511da4cb0 were not in the same folder.  When I extracted BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-c62511da4cb0 to the same folder as BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-c62511da4cb0.zip, everything worked fine.

Thanks again,

Tom
