There was a thread sometime ago about BWS failing the Tactical installation. Running into the same issue.

I installed a fresh Baldur's Gate I and ToTSC with the required patch in:

D:/GoG Games/Black Isle/Baldur's Gate

I installed a fresh BG II SoA + ToB + required patch in:

D:/GoG Games/Black Isle/BG II SoA

On BWS I select

Baldur's Gate 2 / Baldur's Gate Trilogy (BGT) Customization

[It's not a GoG version of installation, GoG Games is just a general folder for me]

Two outcomes happen:
a) Only widescreen mod is applied.

b) No mods applied.

I have a few things that indicate issues. Everything goes great during download and extraction (a few mods are missing, but that was usual as I remember).

Pre-Installation happens normally up to:

WARNING: file "BWP_Fixpack_Originals\Setup-Bonehillv275.tp2" does not exist (this is the file targeted for patching in "SETUP-BONEHILLV275.TP2.PATCH" in "Big World Fixpack/Bonehillv275").  This might mean you did not extract all of the files of the mod, or it might mean that the patches for this mod were made for a different version of the mod than the version that you are using (you would see this message if the version you are using moved or renamed the tp2 file).

[edited out]

[Enter Y if you want to try patching anyway, anything else to skip patching this mod.]

BWS never creates a folder called BWP_Fixpack_Originals at all. Telling BWS [y] results in all hunks failed. Several other mods (mostly big ones - SoS, Check the Bodies, Bonehill, TDD) run into the same issue.

This might be fine but the rest is as follows (do not have the original log as I have deleted and reinstalled BWS several times and can't be bothered right now):

#@ X mod is selected to not be installed.

This happens to every mod (sometimes with the exception of Widescreen). I've tried resellecting Tactical before installing, tried selecting it, then choose your own mods, then starting it like that. It never helps.

Obviously since no mod is selected as required to be installed it just skips over everything with a few error messages and it's done.

Any thoughts?

P.S. Downloaded the new BWS today. Ran updater. No difference.

Did you click on "select mods/components" before starting the installation?  Important to do that and resolve conflicts.  Also, unless you are testing, it's not recommended to use the "Tactical" pre-selection.  Better to start from Minimal or Recommended and then choose the specific tactical mods/components you want to add.  Also, to save yourself future headaches, once you have a custom selection you like, click Options -> Export on the selection tab to save your selection as an ini file that you can import later if you need to re-install.

BWP_Fixpack_Originals wouldn't be created by BWS.  That's only for creating patches (i.e., for modders), not for applying them (i.e., what BWS does).  The patches for Bonehill, RoT and SoS had incorrect paths in them, which was causing this problem.  I've corrected them in the Fixpack now.  What is the problem with the TDD patch?

The lines in the log about components "not selected to be installed" are harmless but I've updated BWS to suppress them now also.

BiG World Fixpack (community collection of mod fixes and compatibility patches, with user-friendly cross-platform script)

BiG World Setup (tool to automate best-practice installation of Infinity Engine mods on Windows, with conflict analysis)

Thanks, agb :). You're doing an amazing job by supporting everyone and BWS!

I'll be updating it now and see if things work.

I want to play the Tactical (not Expert) mode which is supposed to, if I recall correctly, not install bugged mods. It's just all the difficult content which is what I want. I don't pick the mods myself as I have a somewhat vague understanding of the content in them. Back in like, maybe, 2010 I played a bit with the Tactical version and enjoyed it.

Was there anything changed with the Tactical version since then?

P.S. The Tactical selection has a conflict in it by default - Drows and PaintBG.

P.P.S. Encountered another form of error which I missed in the original post:
WARNING: File "setup-1Sylm.tp2" contains 'VERSION ~v1.025 BWP Fix~' (expected no VERSION line)!  This is the file targeted for patching in "SETUP-1SYLM.TP2.PATCH" in "Big World Fixpack/1Sylm".  This might mean that the patches for this mod were made for a different version of the mod than the one that you are using, or this might mean that the mod was already patched and then removed from the list in the "BWP_Fixpack.installed" file without restoring the original pre-patched files.

Same prompts: Allison, Angelo, Aranw

Okay. Updates. I'm hoping this would be helpful to someone.

I realized one thing. The Auto updater doesn't update everything. I did update it before starting this morning's installation. Ran into the same issue as with RoT mentioned earlier.

So I redownloaded the installer from the website and there's quite a few things different.

A) The list for Tactical was way different. Much more conflicts in it as well but fixable.

B) My older version did not extract BGT...

C) Waiting on the RoT to see if it works.

And the older version I used could not have been older than a month. It's interesting how the updater works. There needs to be some detail on it.

UPDATE: Looks like the installation is working so far! Awesome! Though, I still received the same errors with RoT and others (no error for TDD, though). Chose N.

Same problem

2 weeks ago I downloaded the latest BWS and installed it.  Everything worked except on party death it would crash to desktop.  So over the next 2 week I tried various times, and it kept skipping the actual mod installation part, saying something like, "Mod was not installed because it wasnt selected".   And I was also getting those fruistraiting Yes and No questions every 20 seconds durring the first 5 mins of installing.

So I just deleted everything and starting over from scratch again.
