Hey.

I'm kinda new.

I've started up the nearinfinity console, clicked on "saves", chose the needed one, clicked on BALDUR.sav , checked on the appropriate ARxxxx.are , then clicked on the ARxxxx.bcs , and while in the "script code (source)" tab- I've deleted all the content, expecting this to break the game when that save is loaded.

It did not, however, I move to the area for which I deleted the scripting code and all is working as it used to.

The tab is still empty but nothing seems to change.

Why is that?

thank you!

1) Area.bcs itself is not stored in the are-file contained in the baldur.sav. All that is stored there is the reference to this file. When you go to the area, the script is loaded new each time.

2) If you have a modded game, even if you delete the first script you see in NI (in the normal view - not savegame), you will still have a version of that file stored in the game which is loaded while you play.. You just loose the last change that you or any mod might have made.

3) Areas do not necessarily require any script to be assigned or the script can be empty.

PS - this is the first report I see which complains that a game does not crash...

LOL,

Truth be told I spent a couple of hours trying to mod a specific  condition, after seeing no result whatsoever I tried the ultimate test- considering how the game still works I guess my suspicions were founded.

So where is the script's hiding then?

Is it in the main "BCS" thread? Because I've just expanded it (4318 scripts)- clicked the ARxxx.bcs  and it's empty (like if I'he deleted it).

Thank you!

Did you do a *refresh tree* in between?

I...

I did not. I was not aware of this and now that I've tried refreshing the tree it seems like the script is still in bcs... huh, so I just tried the deletion again and  I think it works (no reaction from the actors) this time...

Thank you very much! I guess problem solved...

5 internet points to you. :)
