[Solved] Minsc walking bug with BGT - Minsc stops walking every second

We have a Minsc walking bug with BGT/Trilogy, using BWS/Big World Setup, in the beginning of Chateau Irenicus. He stops walking every 1 second or less! He doesn't seems to fight at 2 attacks per round, either - if he can fight at all. He is essentially useless for fighting, and a real pain to walk through the dungeon. How to solve, please. I've tried all the scripts to no avail. I've rebooted and started BG2 right off the bat, to no avail. I turned off the battles cries/character selection sounds/etc. to no avail. Thanks!

Install the LStest mod from this post and look for the trigger that interrupts Minsc in the player1 's debug on what's going on ... yes, the mod will make the game unplayable to the player1 char, but that's just a side effect caused by the debugging... aka after you are done, you uninstall the LStest mod and then fix the other script and you are done.

Or in the case you can't fix it yourself, you point what the problem is and we'll take care of it so to speak.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for an easy fix such as temporarily move an offending file, or to even send a file to a skilled person to troubleshoot. I cannot program or code. The Minsc stutter walk bug is also present in NeJ2 when we go through the Portal in Chateau Irenicus level 1. I guess we could just park him in NeJ and play without him, but it would be better for the community to solve the bug as A Gamer_1745 also had the bug. What type of file is offending here? Could I just move it out of the folder and then load-up my previous save? The bug only became present in BG2, as per the A Gamer_1745 video above. Thank-you!

*Stuttering* is an effect that can be caused by any code block in any script in the game if it contains a loop, i.e it tries to execute the same action at each cycle of the game running. Two people having the effect not even necessarily have it from the same source, Consequently there is not ONE universal solution for it. Find the issue in your speific install and get rid of it. If you think you found a general bug, share your knowledge.

Actually there is, you INSTALL THE LStest mod and figure the script block out, and fix it, that's ALL you have to do. In every single &/¤%#&&Y#%¤%&E¤#%& case ... there's no alternative to it even... if you want bug free game... and yes, one can kick Minsc out, but that's only half of a solution.

1. It is best to take the time to learn how to fix this problem.  It is not that hard if you read the directions.

 

2. Here is my Minsc.bcs file.  Warning!!!!  It is like not 100% compatible with your install.  Un zip/rar it & place it in your override folder.  If there is already one there copy/back it up somewhere else as you my still need it!!!!!

Hi Gamer 1745, Mr. Chevalier. Thank-you sir! Your Minsc.bcs file worked! No more Minsc stutter stepping bug! I reloaded my save game at the start of BGT Chateau Irenicus and all is well. Minsc can now help us kill the pesky Lightning Mephits! I reloaded my NeJ2 save game and had Minsc re-join and all is also well! There was no Minsc files in my override folder.

 

As a test, using the Minsc.bcs file you attached, I reloaded my old save game at the start of BGT Chateau Irenicus and we went through the NeJ portal (near the jail cells) and, compared with my Minsc stutter-step game, I noticed that 1) the bottom and right-side interfaces did not disappear when we entered the first 2 rooms of NeJ, and 2) Imoen made a comment in room 1 of NeJ. (Of course this was with NeJ 2, not 3, as the BWS installer did not have the latest and greatest NeJ as an option, so all could be different now with NeJ 3.)

I have this bug in BWP 18.1.2

Bug caused by the code fragment you can see below.

This script block has come from NEJ3v702. This code somehow cancells commands issued to Minsc. Because scripts are running repeatedly in background this code also executed repeatedly causing cancelling of given commands (movement etc).  Removing this code block fixes issue. (Open Minsc.bcs in NearInfinity, cut this block, it is near the middle of the script in my installation, Compile, then Save).

I didn't. Those badass Shadow Thieves who helped to put Minsc to the jail in Irenicus dungeon. Boo is somewhere, but where?
