Hi All:

I have been away from Baldur's Gate games since last November due to medical problems.  So far I got a clean bill of health.

I started playing an existing game, but the indications are there are major problems with the existing game.  So time to make a new version.  However, in looking through some game sights, I noticed some old mods have been removed or no longer supported.  Here are a few I have noticed.

1.  Has Leonardo Watson stopped updating BiG World Project?  The last version I found is BiG World English v16, dated Nov 17, 2016.

2.  I have found three types of mega mod games inBWS.  One is  Baldur's Gate 2 / Baldur's Gate Trilogy (BGT) Customization which uses the WeiDU mods.  The other is Baldur's Gate 2 / BiG World Project (BWP): Install.bat only, which also uses the WeiDU mods.  And the last is Baldur's Gate II: EE / Enhanced Edition Trilogy, which uses Enhanced Edition mods.  Am I correct in assuming in my assumptions about mod formats?

3.The last time I made a mega mod game, there was a problem with Balderdash(BDash175) and Tortured Souls(TSv706).  Have the conficts been fixed?  I did like Tortured Souls.

Thanks for any comments,

Tom

You can find most what you're seeking over at the G3 Forums for Enhanced Edition Trilogy, there has been so many significant changes.

The Github for BWS has a list of commits to give some idea how much has been added & removed. At this point BGT (if I'm understanding this right) is no longer maintained as most of the focus now is EET, some people don't like this, but others find it the most logical route.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong on this.

As for Leonardo & BWP, I assume you're talking about the guide...I'm not entirely sure of that situation.

Hi -Imp's Bastard Cousin-

Thanks for the information.  I have started making a new BWS mega mod game.  I will see which mods are available and which mods are gone.

Hi, tomkaz,

I won't speak in Leonardo's place but as the French translator for BWP Install and fix pack, I can tell that he is working at his rhythm, can be off for months and suddenly reappears with a ton of new stuff to translate for the incoming version. Saying that, 8 months is not a huge delay. ;)

Hi Gwendolyne:

Thanks for the comment.

I previously used BiG World Project to make my mega mod games.  All I did was edit the components of the mods in the file that installed  the game and that took me a few days.   Now if you consider adding checking the compatibility of new mods with existing mods,  I am surprised Leonardo gets as much done as he has.

It looks like BWS has about five people working on their program.  However, I still consider BWP to be the better program in terms of programming style  because I could always go back and create a meg mod with older mods.  Usually there were incompatibilities with the existing code in the new mods.  BWS overwrites mods and checks their bytes so it is near impossible to go back to older working mods.
