File Name: Spiritwalker - A Shaman Shapeshifter Kit
File Submitter: Ulb
File Submitted: 28 Aug 2017
File Category: BG:EE Mods

Spiritwalkers are Shamans that can use their Shamanic Dance to shapeshift into various Spirit Animal Forms. In this case the Shaman can take on the form of a Spirit Crane, a Spirit Tiger and a Spirit Yak.

Be advised that this is version 1.0 of the mod.
While I read over the files a few times and spell-checked them there may very well be some typos left. I also only tested the mod myself so far and while I couldn't find any bugs/issues there might still be some hiding in there.

This kit will work with BGEE, SoD, BG2EE and EET.

Here is the full kit description & a list of the kit's unique HLAs:

Kit Description:

Unique HLA's :
(Other than the ones listed the kit has access to the vanilla Shaman HLAs except for Energy Blades, Spirit Form and Favored of the Spirits)

So I am a total moron and forgot to properly set the animations for the polymorph correctly.

I am uploading V.1.1 right now but if anyone is using V.1.0 here is a quick hotfix that will solve the issue.

Are HPs that are lost due to changing into the forms that reduce HPs, supposed to need healing in order to regain them again in human form?

Example: I change to crane form and loses 70& of total HP's. When returning to human form the difference is not returned and needs to be healed.

Just want to check this is as intended.

Hey, yeah that is supposed to be that way.

The only way I see to change that would involve healing your character to full every time he switches forms and that would be more of an issue I think. Just think of it as an additional "weakness" of the kit. :D

Well considering the snow tiger is quite large, it should have a lot more hps than the char. As should the buffalo. The crane doesn't... In some versions of the DnD rules.. the forms are temporary form, and so they have temporary hit points, which when lost, the character reforms back, and if they take more damage, the extra damage as the human form.

Aka if the crane form has 10 hitpoints, then when it's hit with 15 for example, the char reforms back and has the original human forms hitpoints minus the 5.

One could (probably) do this via the hitpoint percentage system ... but it could be tricky.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

1. It's a yak not a buffalo (no big deal for me but the yak might take offense)

2. The tiger having a hp penality is indeed a bit sketchy RP wise. Having an AC penalty is even sketchier since cats are supposed to be agile and swift but I really want the form to be a trade off - more power but more vulnerability as well - so the penalties stay.

I don't see how.

Well, say you have a shaman whose at level is 10 and has ~60 hps... and you morph them to be the tiger who also has 60 hps at that level, well you raise the current and max HPs to be 120, ... this is an easy example, we use round numbers.

And then you use the 50% current HPs as the contingency trigger to force morph them back. The penalty of these extra HPs is that they can't cast magic during the form... and if they want to, they can change back which removes the extra HPs as it dispels the form and it's effects.

And yes, it can restore the shaman to max HPs if used for that single purpose, but you don't have the regular dance..

Oh yeah that part might work. I must have misread your post. I thought you meant there was a way to maintain the character's current % hp when switching forms, without using the extra hp approach you suggested.

Well, if there's a will, there's a way.

You just check the current HPs when the spell is cast, it sets a global variable, and uses that to restore the amount when the effect ends, yes, that means ... 100-200+ effects  I told something about will here.

And the creature reverts back either... When the characters current HP drops to 1, as that's when an item like the minhp1.itm saves the charname from death, which is then too removed, after which the global is used to restore the exact amount of current HPs. .. And also when the spell is reversed.

Actually, my explanation wasn't complete.. so it's no wonder you might not have seen the pure genius in it. I am told others refer it as insanity too.
