Over the past several days, I've tried to install a Megamod for my Baldur's Gate 2 game (Not Baldur's Gate 1 because My Tales of The Sword Coast is being buggy), with no success. The BWS runs fine on the download and extraction (I use the Baldur's Gate 2/Big World Project (BWP) Install.bat only settings(I know it's out of date, but I'm not sure which one I should use)), as I manage to download all the mods I want (The 'Recommended' Set + Longer Road), but when I run the install.bat, it won't allow me to download ascension or any of the associated mods.

Still, I don't give up, and try to run the game using BGMain, and it lets me build the character, but once I complete him and get the game started, it immediately goes non-responsive, and the game turns to a black box in the top left corner of the screen that I can only remove with the Windows Task Manager.

I think you guys have done a phenomenal job with the MegaMods, and I'd just like to be able to play it. Can you help me figure out why 1: Ascension and related mods won't install; and 2: My game keeps crashing once I try to start playing?

Here are my .err, .log, and .ini files. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

This is what the expert says about BWS BG2 status:

http://www.shsforums...225#entry597262

Maybe this statement is a bit enthusiastic but one or other user may still be able to do installs that way. It just requires some expertise that the tool no longer provides.

The BWS readme has been updated like this:

Supported games

Active:
- Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition (standalone game)
- Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition (standalone game)
- Enhanced Edition Trilogy ( BG1:EE + SoD + BG2:EE ) (planned: IWD1:EE + partial IWD2-in-EET)
- Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition
- Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition

Not maintained:
- Baldur's Gate 2 (classic standalone game)
- Baldur’s Gate Trilogy ( Classic BG1 + Classic BG2 )
- Icewind Dale
- Icewind Dale II
- Planescape: Torment
- Classic Adventures

Makes sense. Is there any way to get the desired mods installed then while being new to Modding, or do I need to shell out for the Enhanced Edition?

For BWS BGT I'd use the "OUTDATED!!! Baldur's Gate 2 / Baldur's Gate Trilogy (BGT) Customization" game type. That allows BWS itself to manage the installation, while the "install.bat" version is just BWP started by BWS.

If you really want to use the install.bat, I'd only use BWS to download the mods, and after that follow the BWP instructions for the rest of the installation.

There are many way to get the desired mods installed then while being new to Modding, and there is no need to shell out for the Enhanced Edition,

Do not delete the mods you already downloaded. That spares you a lot of work.

That's good. What's the simplest, easiest way to do the equivalent of BWS's Recommended + Longest Road? Would EasyTutu be able to do it, or is there a better way?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I see all the modding options and am a bit overwhelmed.

You are way far away from your target there, as EasyTutu only consists of the BG1 portion of the game... so you can't go anywhere near it. LR in it... cause that's a BG2 mod.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Ahh, my bad. But in that case, what is a good method?

Follow http://www.shsforums...ws/#entry597338 advice, in another thread aiqa has posted a few days ago about having done a big modded install with the defunct BWS this way.

However, it seems like you have to edit some bat file for this. Maybe someone can post some instruction for this.

The "BiG World Textpack.bat" checks if "BiG World Install.bat" exists,

And if it does it exits you get:

Please start the "BiG World Install.bat"

Bitte startet die "BiG World Install.bat"

Veuillez lancer le "BiG World Install.bat"

There are 2 ways around that

- delete "BiG World Install.bat" (but no idea if that has any other negative consequences)

- delete lines 48 en 49 (pause and exit) from "BiG World Textpack.bat"

Alright, I'll give it a shot. (Didn't see Aiqa's original advice or I would have done earlier :) )

It looks like this time it worked! I just started working my way through Irenicus' dungeon, but no bugs, no errors. It's alive!!!
