Hello all. I have a mega mod set up currently in play. I chose the recommended settings and attempted to disable any xp reduceres and changers, but I still got one.........I know there is a xp fixer for this out there......just not totatlly sure how to use it and where to find it.

Any help would be great

OK...I managed to find a XP file folder that opens in note pad.........of course I find it after I ask......now......do I just cut and paste the file or open it and cut and paste the numbers ? I tried both and it only lets me cut and paste the file not the content

Well, you can open any file with Notepad and copy paste a content to any other file ..

But usually that won't help, in most case. Yes, you can even copy entire picture's hex code to another and it kinda works... But usually that won't help.

ALL weidu mods use backup folders, as when you open the setup-*modname*.tp2, it starts from saying the backup folders location, with: BACKUP ~foldername~ into which it will make folders when installing the mod, and moves overwritten original files. The subfolders name is the component number featured in your weidu.log file's log.

Now, if the file has not been modified by other mods, it won't be found in the override folder ... meaning that when the backup is made, it won't be at the backup either, as the game actually packages the original game files in the large .bif files that the game can read faster than data that's in the override folder.

To get the original file from the .bif's to be the one the game uses, you just need to delete any file that the game has in the <gameinstall folder>/override/ -folder. I don't know what xp file you mean, I assume it's the one that features the bonus xp you get from disabling traps and unlocking door etc, it's called "xpbonus.2da". There's also the xpcap.2da and xplevel.2da files.

There, by the by, is no "XP fixer" mod, it's called something else, as you can't fix what isn't broken. And there are multiple xp tweak mod, but that's not what you mentioned in the first post.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Ok....,y fault. I wasn't all that clear........yes the file I am referring to is restoring the original  xp for traps and locks and spells and the like........the one I found looks like this when you open it....it opens in note pad......so unless the file I have is out of date....this is what I found.........in my documents of all places...don't remember getting this.

Here's the original, it's that exact same one... yes, indeed the traps and locks is actually reversed in the game. And you normally start the BG2 at level 7, leading you to get 1750 from unlocking a chest, and 400 from removing a trap, but you'll quickly level up and for idiocity's sake, get more XP, not less.. which is why there's so many different tweaks mods of it.

For example, here's mine.

The bg1 didn't give any xp rewards from unlocking or disarming, nor from learning arcane spells.

The likely reason why the file is in the documents is that your OS places it these, because the OS doesn't like you, nor you replacing original files ... so it mirrors them into your profile folder. Whether it uses them is up to the OS and the particular config you have made. I myself, play the games in Windows 10, install the games to the only place it allows me to modify the files at, aka C:\Users\<username>\Pelit(aka Games)\<gamename>\

Well, if you have the game installed, say here: C:\Users\<username>\Games\BG2 - SoA\

Then all you need to do is move the file(xpbonus.2da) into the C:\Users\<username>\Games\BG2 - SoA\override\ -folder and it will work from there.

Now, depending on which generation of megamod you did, you either did a BWP or BWS install, the later is more simple, as you just run the .vbs file that comes with the package ... or made the whole setup yourself and ran the BiG World Install.bat that comes with that package(+the few other packs), if it was the former.

Or you could have even been one of the "early" independents that didn't have any of that cheese and just installed the mods via extracting them to the game folder and ran the setup-modname.exe's...

Ok...I got it.....could only find a alternative version.....,,,,my original was in note pad form with note pad icon.......which was why it didn't work when dropping it into my override........the version I found was in the right format and changed my xp according to the file.......thanks for taking the time to explain this.....
