Hi all,

After having played through various mega mod installations over the years (by the gods, it's decades already!), I wonder if anyone else is still having those "Why the heck did I never see this before?!" moments.

Feel free to share your experiences, maybe it will give others something to check out as well!

I'll start with a DSotSC easter egg that i haven't found mentioned in this forum (according to search):

Mopap the Chirping Squirrel - today was the first time I accidentially hovered the cursor in its place. The reward was fitting indeed, a Ring of Luck +1

Do not hesitate to share any other easter eggs that others might have missed! :new_thumbs:

Cordyr, a man in a house in the harbor area in Baldur's Gate is actually supposed to give you a quest for Sil the siren queen - but only if she is still alive. You meet him however long after most players have killed her.
In most games you would visit and solve the lighthouse/cave/sirens quest long before you reach the city - and even then maybe never talk to that man

Mr Shade upstairs in one of the pubs in Baldur's Gate town, tricks the Golden Pantaloons from you if you have them. Otherwise he entwines you in endless meaningless banters.

This seems to have been the original quest for this garnment.

There are two specimen of the *Ancient Armor*. One needed in the missing paladin quest in the Firewine dungeon and one in the vampire sword quest for Torkion, the ghost in the cave near Beregost temple.

You can find one inside the Firewine labyrinth and the other in the dining room in the Northern Citadel.

They are interchangeable and this way allows you to deal with the two quests in any sequence. This might be interesting because you will only learn about Northern Citadel when you first meet Duke Eltan but with the Firewine item you can solve the Torkion plot earlier than that. (Also involves Ulcaster ghost)

Everybody knows that Imoen was a very late add-on to the game.

Few know there was originally a guy named Pique, one of the watchers at Candlekeep instead of her.

The creature and dialogues are still in the game. They were used by the NTotSC mod later along with other unused game dialogues and they make up some of the people you meet in the Northern Citadel.

There is a northern exit in Trademeet when you go past the graveyard to the north. You will meet a shadow hief who was sent against the djinnis who terrorize the town. If you conduct the dialogue correctly, you will find the necessary clues to find Itafeer.

When you face Torgal during the d'Arnise quest, let Nalia be the party leader. It gets you a different and more interesting final dialogue than the one for the protagonist.

In one of the upstairs rooms in an inn in Baldur's Gate town, a young woman asks you to search her two missing cousins for her. When she starts to give you the details, it turns out that those were the two diletante assassins you met on your first day in Candlekeep, Shank and Carbos.

If you report all your evidence against the tanner to the lieutenant in the bridge district, he will vanish to arrest the culprit. When you search the tanner's house yourself, you find the murdered lieutenant's body in the fireplace. Take the body to inspector Brega in the council after you finished the tanner quest.

If you do Narlen's strange burglary jobs sucessfully BEFORE you accept Ravenscar's main quest to steal the artifacts for the mage, you can get a different ending to this plot. When you return to the guild to deliver the objects and Ravenscar tries to betray you, Narlen will step in.

Lazarus Librarus and his shop can appear three times in the complete saga

- Saradush,

- Amkethran, in a hut accessible by a tricky system of ladders,

- Restenford, if you have the Bone Hill mod installed.

If you see this

in the thieves maze in BG1, you know there is a trap nearby.

Narlen and Black Lily can make an apperance including a quest in BG2 if

- you gain the thief stronghold

- you install the extended thief stronghold mod

The spider creature Centeol in the Cloakwood was once an elven mage. She was cursed by Jon Irenicus, introducing the name to the game long before BG2.

In the Drizzt Saga mod, your opponent is a mysterious hooded man with the initial *I*. In a letter you find he thanks his vampiric sister for her help.

This mod was released more than a decade prior to SoD and the hooded man appearing again.

Getting arrested by Angelo for the murder of the Iron Throne leaders in Candlekeep takes a different ending when his daughter Shar-Teel is in the party.

There is an additional variation for the Ankheg Farmer Brus quest.

You can give him 100gold to survive.

You can also give him a ruby ring you find on one of the beasts in the cave, this triggers a different dialogue optiom.

That just sounds like Irenicus. :P
