Not sure why people are worried about "sanctions." There is no sanction here. There is no punishment. There is only a moderator who feels like he has a responsibility to prevent people being deceived on this site. So he simply let people know who is the person behind some deceptive posts and accounts. That's it. He just gave people some information. If people are suggesting he should assist her in deceiving other members... well, that seems unlikely to happen.

Roxanne hasn't been banned. She doesn't even have any reason to flee the forums... as I said before, it's not a big deal. Let her and her fake accounts post all they want... who cares?

Of course that raises the question why she has fled the site... maybe she feels shame? And if she was doing something she believed to be shameful, you have to wonder why. But that's her business.

Unfortunately, her response has reportedly been to leave, and to steal work done by others and present it as her own. Maybe - I haven't seen it. But if that's true, it would be an extremely immature way to react.

But it is rather simple, Roxanne. People do not like to be deceived - no matter the intentions of the deceiver. Hence, a universal rule on every forum there are - "one account only". On most of the forums, multiple accounts is a bannable offense - period, but on more independent forums with tight communities like here people are less inclined to punish and more to forgive. Hence, here and on Gibberilings Roxanne - as herself! - is welcome to stay, exactly because every modder is precious (emphasis on "every").

 

Polite response to such readiness to forgive would be an apology with continuation of a single-account-forum-existence. Less polite but understandable - to continue (preferably with one account if you can), as nothing happened. Demanding special privileges ... - this is not the best way to handle situation. You have your own site with your own rules for any kind of behavior, but public places follow rules suiting the most, not one person. Following the rules is a simple courtesy people show to each other. Just join us in it.

Don't be a narc. Someone mentioned something about it, but I haven't seen it first-hand. So I said "reportedly."

It was suggested to me that, after advocating putting BWS on BitBucket and suggesting that she will did not/would not/could not maintain it, she created a fork of the software and changed its name, and without giving proper attribution to the actual people who created and maintained it.

Now that I've seen it, it does not look so bad. She makes clear that it the thing she is offering for download is a fork of BWS, and she at least mentions dabus briefly. So it seems the report was overblown. (Though it's kind of crappy not to give attribution to AL|EN... without his efforts BWS would never be in such good shape that Roxanne would be able to make this fork.)

Riiight, you are just an untraceable guest account by someone who has nothing better to do than sit around making GIFs portraying Roxanne as Wonder Woman and supporting the whole BG modding community. Nothing at all weird about that.

EDIT2 - oh alright, it was just a joke, of course this joker isn't Roxanne. Roxanne has some class, she doesn't jump to flaming as a first resort... or in fact ever.

Well, that statement is from "Kusel" which was one of Roxanne's alts, so...

 

Well, damn, one of her alts suggested she was fired from Beamdog and the other denied this right away. This is ridiculous, really.

Mod credit/theft is pretty serious since we all do this for fun.   It's the ultimate no-no.  Ban her, all her accounts, disable/destroy all mods associated with any of her accounts. Any content that can't be removed - post notes on it that it IS stolen.  This person is done.  My two cents.

Cam's reason for discouraging alts is that he supposedly values honesty, integrity, authencity, etc... therefore having alternate accounts would compromise those things. Now, in principle, Cam is absolutely right. But let's be realistic here. If those virtues don't get you anywhere in life in the end, what good are they?
