Split from Translations into English thread.

Hi.

Yes, Rukrakia should be recruitable in SOA but I don't remember the details. Am not sure if it happens in a specific place or whatever (during a fight or what).
I don't really remember how I recruited her.

Yes. The log could could be helpful to understand what happened.

Glad that it worked!

So I started SoA but I run into a problem.

Namely when I tried to visit the "Black Forest" which is a new location from this mod the game crashed. And it always does when I go there.

Here is what appears in the crash window:

An Assertion failed in InfScreenWorldMap.cpp at line number 3069
Programmer says: Bad Area file, in are "RU6700" need entry point "ENTRANCE1"

It seems to be some map related problem since I've seen at least a couple of RU6700 files in the AREA folder of Rukrakia. I wonder if it is the mod fault, BGT WorldMap fault or something else. You might have experienced similar problems perhaps since I noticed that there was in BWP a patch named Nightfarer's new map Fix?

Here is the Weidu log btw:

Nope. This is fault of mine creating the patches 😁

But I am unable to fix it for some time.

However it's weird. From what I recall, I added ENTRANCE1.

Please ask Leonardo or Fixpack topic to fix it. I am only on mobile phone.

You could, anyway, add the ENTRANCE1 yourself using Near Infinity to open the area file.

It should be easily fixed amending one or two Fixpack patches but, as I was saying, I can't do it for some time

Got it, then I will post the issue at the fixpack page since I did not ever use Near Infinity and I'm a bit afraid of messing something up so perhaps I should leave it to a pro.

The error should be in Rukrakia setup patch in Fixpack or in RU6700 area file.

I am not sure.

Seems like Leonardo is busy since I still received no response. :(

Eh, the Rukrakia area file in question is ru6700.are.....or is it RU6700.MOS/ru700.tis/RU6700.WED/RU6700HT/RU6700LM/RU6700SR?

Also...which option to chose in order to make the change? Should I just open the game file, or use tools or try to edit it somehow?

Really...I'm quite the NOOB with Near Infinity. :(

Am waiting for a reply from someone Who played the mod if he had the same issue

The file is RU6700.are

You should use a tool to open it. Near Infinity or some other tool (DLTCEP as as example).

In NI (near Infinity), you can choose to point to game folder. So that it also opens archive files. Then double click RU6700.are.
In the Window opening, somewhere there are also listed entry points. If missing, you can add an entry point. They are listed, so you manually add the data of the entry point.

You could also check in setup-rukrakia.patch (Fixpack, Rukrakia subfolder) if there is listed an ENTRANCE1.
The patch file is a simple text file.

Hmmm...I try to open but I get "Unknown game @D:\Baldur's Gate 2\rukrakia\AREA- 0 files available

Or "Unsupported key file: D:\Baldur's Gate 2\rukrakia\AREA\ru6700.are :(

Also you said it must be RU6700.are but I noticed that I have ru6700.are instead...small italics.

In Near Infinity, you have an "open game" option.
You use this to point to your BG2 game key file.

You find the option under Game menu. Game -> Open Game.

So that it opens the full game. After this, you also find a list of files (subdivided by type of file). From there, ARE file types, you will find ru6700/RU6700.are (I don't remember if capital letters)

Yeah, I try that and I get the "Open game: Locate Keyfile window with an empty space for File Name and with Files of Type : Infinity Keyfile(.KEY)

Then I try to search for the ru6700 file in the AREA folder to edit it but its all empty unless I change from "Files of Type : Infinity Keyfile(.KEY)" to "All Files". After that I see the ru6700.are file but when I open it I get "Error Unsupported Keyfile"

Strange.

Using open game, you have to choose and open key file.
This is needed to later read and open game files

I mean you have to select the key file in your game folder.

After this, NI opens the full game and files and you can open ru6700.are file

The Key file is the CHITIN.KEY file, is that correct?

Ok, it seems to work(hopefully). I searched in the AREA folder but I couldn't find ru6700.are though...

EDIT: I managed to find it in the override folder. Is it the correct one?

That's right, It is the CHITIN.KEY file.

Yes, It is that file. Open it and check if under the entries listing, there is the ENTRANCE1.

Weird...there is:

Entrance                         Name: Entrance 1, Location: X:  81,Location: Y: 75, Orientation: SE (14) ,Unknown: 00 00 00 00 00...

There seems to be a SPACE between ENTRANCE and 1...could that be it?

Yeah, I was saying that it was weird because I recalled there was it.

At the current point, I'm out of ideas... Unless It wants it to be in capital letters.
Change it to ENTRANCE1 all capital and then save the file and exit NI and test in-game if it works.

Ahhhhh Yes... It should be that. I did not notice It.
Change it to all capital and without the space

*Whew*...it worked.

It may have either been the lack of capital letters or it changing into Entrance1 rather than Entrance 1

Or both (ENTRANCE1) since that is what I did.

Alright, thanks again for the help and for teaching me a bit how to handle Near Infinity. If I run into more issues then I will try to report them too, ok?

Cheers.

I think it is the space. Which I did not notice.

Glad it works!

You're welcome. Sure but if not related to Translations and Textpack ENGLISH please create a topic about.
