I recently had to reinstall the game. I had to go back to the CD's and to a complete install. Before i did the install i used the BWP Fixpack and the BWP Textpack. I have done this before and delt confident that the install would be fine. That was until i ran into the Raziel mod. The Textpack changed the dialogue into English, but, after i installed, everything was in Polish. I double checked the Raziel directory and saw that the English translation was there and could find no reason why it didn't install.

I also had a problem with the combination of installing the Raziel mod and then later, the Aurora mod. Specifically, the component that cut short the dungeon sequence. I found if Raziel is installed before Aurora, Raziel never shows up. If Raziel is installed after Aurora, the opening sequence ends up full length. The work around is pretty obvious, it's just that i shouldn't have to.

In the end, i left out Raziel and moved on

I read this in the Forum, Mega Mod Help\Translations into English for various mods, on page 16 in one of the posts the writer talks about the mod Rukrakia. He seems to say that in order to install the mod in English, it has to be done by The BWP Installpack. Is it possible that Raziel is of the same ilk, that it too needs to be installed with BWP Installpack?

Maybe some of the languages (e.g.) Polish was added to the Raziel mod but in an order that it now occupies the number of what was English before. If so, then BWS thinks it's installing the language English while it actually calls for Polish, instead. Since BWS isn't updated, This could only be prevented by installing the mod manually. I am not sure whether this is your problem, though, since you are mentioning the textpack. But since Leonardo's BWP is more current than BWS, it might well be that the BWP Installbat uses the correct language.

That's interesting. I believe it to be possible. I am already involved with a completed install and it may be too late to add it. I will certainly keep this in mind when i make a change, which i always do, in the future. I am going to take a closer look at the .tp2 and see if i can find anything obvious.

I did a little digging. I looked at the Raziel.tp2 file and discovered that Polish is the first language listed, then German and the last is English. However, when i looked in the .tra subdirectory of the Raziel folder, there is no German.tra. I can't find anything in German at all. Just in the off chance that English, which is listed third, is actually chosen, if the computer can't find the second language, as you suggest, and there is no actual third language, (there's only two), will the program default to the first language listed? I hope that reads better than it looks.

With regard to the install.bat, i have never used it. When i read about Rukakia, i downloaded the file and i am waiting for an opportunity to take a close look at it and see if i should be using it. I am trying to solve more than one problem concerning a new install and i would like to take things one at a time. It hasn't quite worked that way, but i'm still trying.

Hm, the LANGUAGE definition usually reads

LANGUAGE ~English~ // <-- what is displayed during installation
~english~ // <-- name of the folder with the language version
~bgqe/tra/english/setup.tra~ // <-- path to the setup.tra so the installer knows the mod's name etc.

So, as long as the folder "english" (or whatever) is present, it shouldn't matter at which number the LANGUAGE choice is listed - as long as BWS uses the "3rd" language install option to call it (counted from 0, so the 3rd would be "2").

The German folder is introduced by the German Textpack.

Looking into BWS, the language choices are considered in the right order with respect to the tp2:

[Raziel]

(...)
Tra=PO:0,GE:1,EN:2

So I don't know why it didn't work for you, unfortunately.

Alright. If you choose English, it will look for a folder named English in the mod directory and as long as there is a folder named English, it will automatically choose it. And I end up with the mystery. Great.

Moving forward, I took a long look at the Big World Installpack. It looks like that may be the solution, regardless of the cause. I read the read me several times to make sure it was what I wanted. I am going to scrap my current install and give it another try, for Raziel and Rukrakia (I think). Lets see what happens.

Here i am with another new install. When i got to the point where Raziel was to be installed, i used the BWP Installpack. It is actually easy to use and i did in fact end up with English as part of the install. I was able to confirm with NI before i continued with the mega install. I ultimately decided against Rukrakia, it's no big deal we'll get to it eventually.
