All my characters seem to be doing too much damage.

For example, Kagain did 11 damage to a Hobgoblin. He using a Battle Axe (2d4 damage w/ Item Revisions) with Strength 16. What gives?

Using BGT w/ numerous mods, including Item Revisions v4 Beta 10 & IR Revised

Did the hobgoblin had a bow in his hand ? He gets +4 damage punished at melee range while using a ranged weapon.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Thanks Imp! I didn't know about the damage bonus.

Found the whole scoop:

"Any character fighting with a ranged weapon in melee will suffer a whopping -8 (not just -4) to hit. The enemy attacking him with a melee weapon will get +4 bonus to hit. In BG1 and BG2 the enemy also enjoyed a +4 to damage as well, making melee attacks against ranged/unarmed targets very lethal indeed. (That bonus damage even got multiplied by backstabs and critical hits!) Sadly, +4 damage bonus is not present in BG:EE."
