I tried re-installing BWS several times, and I also tried Roxane's version of BWS for EE games. But they both yield the same error. Anyone knows what's up with that?

A few things:

Install on a C drive. If you use a Windows 10, you need to install the game into your user profile files, which are here: C:\Users\<windows user name>\GoG Games\ ... or you can move/copy the folder there and when you start the game with the baldur.exe in there will start that game.

And you are using the BG:EE install option, correct ? Cause the EET needs to be installed into the BGIIEE's folder.

And then there's also the modmerger that needs to be installed to the BG:EE folder, for it to use the DLCs data as the default.

And then there's the mix of BWS'es... that's usually bad, but shouldn't cause the above...

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

1. It's on C drive.

2. I didn't know it was supposed to be installed in Users, thanks.

3. Actually, it was an EET installation.

4. I thought the modmerging was done automatically by BWS now, but perhaps I am mistaken.

5. I tried different BWS each one with my backup unmodded copies of the games.

Yeah, it needs to be in the users folders, because of Windows 10, IF you use the C drive that it's the operation systems install drive, for installing the game data... as the other folders are mirrored into the users AppData folder, that is hidden by default, for "safe keeping". Aka you as a user have been reduced in their eyes to the level of a child, that needs to protected from themselves.

As this is an antivirus measure -that is usually employed by totally hamfisted AntiVirus programs- to protect the badly coded Operation System that is Windows 10.

Nothing, it gives the exact same error. Some additional information that might be relevant: this happened after I removed BWS from my system and installed it again (it was giving some error about improperly formatted lines in some log, and it didn't matter how many times I tried to open it, usually it only showed that warning once), and now it's always giving me that error.

Also, when I click on the autoupdate, it tells me every time that "this notification will only show once". So something somewhere is not getting updated at all.
