Hi,

I plan to try a BGT-WeiDU install and playthrough.

I don't have a clear idea of what the map looks like for BGT, and whether this Worldmap mod would be suitable for a game without any content mods, or whether it's just meant for use with mods that add new areas.

Also can someone give me a clue on the install order?  I know it's "megamod" first and then BGT and then other mods, but I am not sure if this Worldmap is considered part of the megamod or not.

The compatibility list says "Revised BP-BGT Worldmap v5 or above" - I don't see the word "revised" anywhere in this mod description and the file does not seem to have a readme.  The download page says the linked readme is out of date and to use the one in the file, but I don't see one in the file.  Any help would be appreciated.

Just replace the 9.0.1 with 10.2.3 and your readme looks good. Except that now it has multiple translations downloadable separately.

Revised BP-BGT Worldmap v5 or above, the bold part is the only truly meaningful matter in this case. As it happens to work with other Total Conversion mods, not just non-total ones like BP or BGT. The mod was badly named at first for what it's today... but so are other thing as well. The english readme is in this folder:

<download location>/bp-bgt-worldmap-v1023.zip\bp-bgt_worldmap\language\english\

As a readme.html file, you can open with your web browser.

And for what it looks in game, there's 2 references to both option in the <download location>/bp-bgt-worldmap-v1023.zip\bp-bgt_worldmap\images\worldmap\ -folder. These are of course without the area icons that are placed on top.

Worldmap mod is installed always after (any and) all areas adding mods, as it replaces the existing worldmap the game would use with it's own. As it needs to be first replaced and then fixed.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Thanks for the information.  I meant I can't find any pics of the BGT map to compare with the BP-BGT map. Not sure what the differences are.

So for an install with no large content mods, the install order is games-patches-BG2fixpack-worldmap-BGT-everything else?

Or does worldmap go in the "everything else" ?

...

It's actually goes like this:

games-patches-BG2fixpack-everything else-BGT-worldmap-widescreen mod-tweak mods.

For a more encompasing list, there's BWP.pdf and other resources...

Huh, interesting.  The readme for BGT-WeiDU says "If you want to play BGT-WeiDU without the mega-modification but with other modifications, install Baldur's Gate 2 Fixpack first, followed by BGT-WeiDU, and then all other modifications on top."  Sounds like you think the other mods should go before BGT.

Only other mod I am thinking of at this point is Sword Coast Stratagems and Tweaks Anthology.

2) Only other mod I am thinking of at this point is Sword Coast Stratagems and Tweaks Anthology.

1. Such as ? And the BGT-weidu's readme didn't say that it checks out if a lot of the older total conversion mod are installed before it and adjust a few things, not enough to work without anything else, but the checks are there.

2. Both of these are tweak mods, and if you want to, you should install them in any order you want to install these two, after BGT(-weidu)... as one option includes the Tweaked tables in to the SCS creatures, while the other doesn't. And so the result is a bit different.

When I look at the huge list of compatible mods here

http://www.shsforums...-compatibility/

I guess I have no idea which ones are considered "tweaks" and go after BGT, and which ones are considered "non-tweaks" and go before BGT.

Hmm so the order matters but neither order breaks anything, just makes the outcome different?  How to know which order to use....

1. Which is why I proposed to use the above .pdf for exact order. It's a very general advice for a 1000+ mod components, so it should be enough for a start.

2. The one you prefer. You don't know... either get to know, or don't care: but just, pick one.

Ok, I've been looking through that PDF, and it appears to recommend installing in this order:

- Games, patches

- Fixpack(23),

- BGT (31),

- content mods like Unfinished Business BG1 (61) and Unfinished Business (152),

- Tweaks Anthology (234),

- SCS (238),

- Worldmap (284)

- Widescreen mod (288)

This is quite different from the order you listed above?

"games-patches-BG2fixpack-everything else-BGT-worldmap-widescreen mod-tweak mods"

Am I misunderstanding something about the PDF?

Widescreen mod is so at the end of the install list, because one can reinstall and choose a different on screen resolution by this standard... but you could install it as the very first mod too, as it was at a point. Worldmap is installed there ... but it can be installed after BGT too. Nothing special about it... but there could be a mod that is not in your list that NEEDS the Worldmap mod. Like if UBforBG1 adds a map, but can't remember if it did. And yes, a mod that requires BGT is indeed installed after BGT not before... but the "everything else" can stall cover that, so to speak. Cause these are BGT, then BG1 Quest mods/NPCs, then BG2 Quest mods/NPCs... if we go more particular. But that's not 11 word paraprase of the situation. Which is why I linked the .pdf version too ! And for that to actually work as intended, you need the BWP Fix and Install -packs too.

Yes I saw that in some mod descriptions, but they were still listed before the worldmap in the install order, unless the order of sections in the PDF is not the install order.

For what to work as intended? I saw no mention in Unfinished Business 1 or 2 that it needed a BWP fix or install pack.

<_< The install order in the .pdf. It's the previous sentence for cheese sake. Do you not use words ? Just grunts apparently.
