Ursula at the gamejag forum noted that it would be cool to add a bunch of miniquests related to being thrown in prison, like the classic daggerfall games...you know, you get drunk or behave badly, and you get tossed in the slammer...

where you can meet interesting people, and get quests, you get the fun of making bail, possibly even going to trial...talk smack at the magistrate, or be nice and cooperative and pay the fine...or do community service if you can't make the fine... ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

If the Shadow Thieves weren't so intrinsic to the storyline this would be a good place to hook up with them.

Another interesting plot could be that to enter the Black Lotus smuggler network, you have to be in jail and get 'recommended' by a former inmate. The BLSN pay a license to the Shadow thieves but are an entirely or only loosely linked organisation. Perhaps the story could branche out from your offense. Minor offenses would get you a day in prison and a relatively useless henchman who gives you a hard time to get into the organization, whereas, as a tradeoff for evil player (at last :) ), a major offense and low reputation could get you in there on the fast lane already talking to sort of middle management types.

well, in check the bodies, in candlekeep you have chores, including milking a cow, and making beds...also, if you steal stuff in candlekeep, you're sent to your room, and locked into cutscene mode until a real time timer expires...

so some possibilitys would be to lock you into cutscene mode for jail time, not too long, just enough time until the player can order a pizza and then go back to playing.. ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

social services may be to collect heaps of rubbish strewn all over the map, and put them all in a waste container...

annoying, but hey, jail is suppose to be like that...

jester, i like the idea of hooking up with black lotus smugglers..

also, wasn't there suppose to be a imprisoned haer dalis plot that was discussed in unfinished buisness??? this could be a way to continue that plot... :P ;)

"Um, another suggestion, please? You know how sometimes people under house arrest have to wear an ankle thingee or something? How about that the community service workers (or ex-cons) have to wear a special ring or necklace--it takes away a usable slot (which is punishment), has people recognize them on the spot as criminals, lowers reputation.

I dunno; just a thought.

It can be treated like a cursed item, or undroppable item (like Immy's magic doeth-no-harm belt)"

another suggestion by ursula... ^_^

I always kill and resurrect my NPCs, if the item cannot be dropped or lost via 'remove curse' in a temple.

Edit: For meself not a good solution, now I thought about it. It does come off with a timer or a Malcor H. who chases you across the planes to rid you of your handcuffs or what.

While these ideas sound intriguing, creating new quests and quest-like modifications to the game has very low priority for Refinements right now.

After the release of v1 we will concentrate on RL issues and planning the possible components for the next release (not to mention the bugfixes of course..).
