Hi All,
Anyone know if its possible to have round and square shields in BG2, as they were in BG1?
I know i can have the inventory and description bams show the bams from BG1 but how do i get the shield to appear as a round or square shield on my cre/paperdoll.
Please don't tell me this is impossible in BG2!! If anyone can point me in the right direction to get started i'd not be against sharing any successes made via a nice little store add-on or something!!

Okay so it looks like the animations are already in the game, after going through all the bams using NI i can see there are animations for round, medium and large shields as they appeared in BG1.
However i can't figure out how to link this animation with a .itm file. In the .itm files the only reference that seems any way related is the Icon D1, D2, D3, D4 references which are buckler, small, medium and large respectively.
These letters are contained in the animation files, the problem here is that the animation files for the same size shields using BG2 animations have the same references. Perhaps there is something i am overlooking, or there is another tool that i need to see the necessary info?
Anyone toyed with this before, even with regard to weapons? I just need to find that missing link.....!

You'd have to copy the BG1 files into the BG2 override, renaming them to match the BG2 files if necessary.
I'm not sure it would work straight off - BG1 used only 5 angles for animations wheras BG2 uses 9 I am told. So you might have to do some manual editing to match up the missing frames.
Note: I am by no means an experienced graphical person, so don't take that as gospel.

Not to mention the fact that the BG1 shields were drawn to match the movement of the arms for BG1 attacks, not those from BG2. Attacks in BG2 not only have more angles (sequences), but more frames, although on this I could be wrong.
My guess is that to get it to work you'd need to redraw the entire .bam.

Thanks Andyr / Ghreyfain, i shall endeavour to persevere with this. Perhaps i can cobble up something from the depths of NI!
