Fiora

Race- Dwarf
Sex- Female
Class- Cleric/Thief (yeah illegal, but then so are Aerie, Anomen, and others)
Alignment- LN

Str- 14
Dex- 17
Con- 15
Int- 13
Wis- 17
Cha- 9

WP- Club, Sling, Mace, Short Sword

Staring Equipment (SoA)- Studded Leather, Kiel?s Helm, Kiel?s Buckler, Club, Sling of Speed +1 (custom sling +1 that adds an extra attack), 40 Bullets

Starting Equipment (ToB)- Studded Leather +3, Kiel?s Helm, Kiel?s Buckler, Club +3, Sling of Speed +1 (custom sling +1 that adds an extra attack), 40 Bullets +3

Background-

One of the last of Durlag Trollkiller?s surving clansmen, Fiora grew up in the north. She listened to tales of Durlag and his tower from infancy. Despite pressure from her kin she studied traps and locks in addition to dedicating herself to the dwarven gods. Fiora made it her life?s ambition to solve the mystery Durlag?s tower.

While still young she made her way to Durlag?s Tower with a few other brave souls. However, both Fiora and her companions woefully underestimated the danger within. This mistake cost the lives of everyone she was traveling with. Fiora herself barely made it out alive.

Fiora returned home determined to make another attempt. She obsessively strove to increase her ability so that there would be no failure this time. She cultivated alliances with other adventures of renown that would be able to survive the tower.

When she deemed herself and her companions ready the group set off, headed for Durlag?s tower. However when they arrived she found the tower open; its riches plundered, traps disarmed & most every monster slain. Her companions, motivated only by the greed she had cultivated, abandoned her.

She now seeks the adventures who succeeded where she failed to learn the true fate of Durlag, as bards tales are never to be trusted. When she heard that several of the items looted from the Tower were for sale in Athkatla she traveled there. Currently she is camped out at the Adventurer's Mart since she has decided that it is the most likely location for her to eventually meet the hero of Durlag?s Tower. While waiting she has managed to purchase Kiel?s Helm & Buckler using the last of her funds.

Personality-

Fiora is gruff and a bit pushy at times. She was raised to always do good for others but in her obsession to return to Durlag?s Tower she compromised many of the principles her parents had tried to instill in her. She is sometimes selfish and insensitive but she is capable of surprising acts of kindness as well.

Fiora is at a real turning point in her life. Her former goal has been achieved by another and she feels left at loose ends. Adventure is all that she has trained for so she has resolved to become a success at that. She will wish to join with the one who did what she could not at Durlag?s Tower as <charnames> actions have proven his success.

One thing that Fiora will do is grumble at the PC if he gets involved in a romance (any romance variables set to 2). She will feel that deeply involved personal relationships like this tend to tear apart adventuring parties and have no place in a truly ?professional? group.

Deity-

(Have no idea ? will need help here ? Default to Helm but a dwarven diety would be better)

Reactions to other PCs

Imoen: When she finally meets Imoen Fiora will wonder what all the fuss was about. The girl hardly seems to be able to take care of herself or she would not have been captured in the first place. Fiora will warm up to her later as the two discuss locks and traps. Eventually Fiora will work with Imoen to play a prank on the PC.

Jahiera: Immediately takes a liking to Jahiera, respecting her fighting prowess and wisdom ? as well as her ability to hold secrets. The two will clash at least once though, perhaps over Jahiera?s obsession with balance. Fiora calling Jahiera bossy is like the pot calling the kettle black?.

Keldorn: Fiora is neutral regarding Keldorn until his family relationships come to light. She will be highly upset if Keldorn doesn?t have his wife sent to jail. She also feels very strongly about his neglect of his daughters. Regardless of the outcome of Kedorn?s situation she will push him to quit the party and spend more time with them. The needling will continue into SoA.

Yoshimo: Fiora feels a strong kindship with this particular human. His history and skills strongly mirror her own. There will be at least one conversation with him regarding the search that lead him to this part of the world that might foreshadow his actions in Spellhold. She will be devastated by his betrayal.

Edwin: Edwin is just the sort of mage that Fiora is used to. She doesn?t like him and considers him arrogant, but these facts don?t really matter to her. Fiora doesn?t really like magic users in general but time and experience has taught her their value. She will work well with the red mage ? though she will be highly amused by his transformation.

Mazzy: Mazzy and Fiora will clash early with Fiora deriding Mazzy?s ideals and Mazzy scandalized by Fiora?s occasional ruthlessness. Eventually in ToB these two will come to an understanding.

Minsc: Fiora regards Minsc about the same as she would a loaded crossbow with a hair trigger. In other words she sees him as dangerous, primed, and liable to go off when you least expect it. As long as the PC appears to be in control of Minsc she doesn?t really have a problem with his presence in the party but if the PC seems to go along with his crazy rants too much she may begin to have second thoughts about staying in the party altogether. For his part Minsc likes the little dwarf.

Valygar: Fiora will consider the ranger?s obsession with magic unprofessional. She admires his skill and appreciates his taciturn nature and thus will work reasonably well with him but she will have no patience with his one-sided view of magic. She doesn?t like magic that much either but Fiora takes pride in being practical enough to use its practitioners to her own advantage.

Aerie: After a few sessions of whining Fiora will feel that the elven girl is unfit for the adventuring life and will make no bones about telling the PC so. She will mock Aerie, though not as harshly as Korgan. In ToB as Aerie comes into her own Fiora will begin to accept her, though by this time Aerie is anything but friendly. Eventually Fiora will make a comment about how far Aerie has come and Aerie will warily accept the complement.

Anomen: Anomen?s righteous rants annoy Fiora and she will snap at him eventually but overall she is accepting of the human cleric regardless of how his test turns out (though during it she will push for him to take the matter to the courts rather than take care of it himself). For his part Anomen regards Fiora suspiciously. Early on the fact that her practical nature mirrors his own inner thoughts and not his desire to act ?knightly and just? will irritate him.

Nallia: Fiora thinks that Naillia is hopelessly naive and thus a less than ideal mage however the dwarf realizes that it is rare for the most mentally stable mages to take up adventuring so she will do her best to put up with what she considers to be the rants of a spoiled child. Naillia finds Fiora to be a bit too hard edged and pushy but then again Naillia is used to putting up with worse from her auntie.

Vionica: Fiora views on Vionica are colored by her early upbringing which included a fair demonization of the Drow race. Fiora and Vic will but heads more than once. While they will not actually come to blows their relationship will be rocky at best.

Cernd: Fiora is incredulous that the Shapeshifter would just leave his son in the care of strangers. Cernd will counter and ask what kind of future would his child have should balance be lost and Bhaal return. Fiora will accept this for the time being but the two will never really warm to one another.

Jan: Fiora honestly doesn?t know what to make of Jan. His long stories drive her crazy but

Korgan: (Still in development) Korgan will hit on Fiora, however she will not respond, believing that it would be ?unprofessional? to do so. The two will have an on again off again relationship with their similarities and differences being highlighted at different points.

Haer?Dalis: Fiora dislikes the flowery Blade. While she respects his skill with the blade Fiora feels that his mouth just isn?t worth putting up with. He manages to rub her the wrong way every time. She will have to be restrained when he starts calling her Crow (or other bird name) ? if not the two may fight.

Sarevok: Fiora is in awe of this man who nearly conquered the Sword Coast with shear audacity alone and has some of the most stupendous fighting skills that she has ever witnessed. His drive to conquer death only adds to these feelings. So in awe is she that Fiora is hesitant to approach him and ask any of the many questions she has. Sarevok will misinterpret this at first and accuse her of mistrusting him and keeping a weary eye on him for signs of treachery.

Q. Where did the idea for Fiora come from?

A. I originally conceived of Fiora back in the days when SoA was being developed. Bio had a ?Create an NPC? contest and Fiora was my entry. More than that I can?t really say. I had just finished playing ToSC and Durlag?s story was fresh in my mind. It?s all kind of odd in a way too. I?m not much of a dwarf person, I like half elves, humans, and elves much better in general, but Fiora was perfect to me just as she was.

Q. So why make her into a modded NPC?

A. Mostly it?s because I got sick of the existing in game choices for both clerics and thieves. Finally a few months ago I came across my original document for Fiora and I realized that she would fit perfectly in many of my parties. I started updating her background doc and formulating ideas about how she could be put into a game. Just creating her in a Multiplayer game I quickly realized that she needed dialogue or else I would never really be happy with her.

A. I also have to admit that I?ve been waiting forever for several NPC cleric or thief mods to come out ? but either they never did in the case of most of the clerics or they didn?t fit my various parties as well in the case of most of the thieves.

Q. Why is Fiora a Cleric/Thief? Isn?t that illegal?

A. Yep, and Bio didn?t seem to care much either with Anomen, Aerie, etc. Cleric/Thief is how I pictured her initially and so that?s what she is!

Q. Why does she have a * in Short Swords?

A. Because she learned how to use them? :) Seriously, I anticipate two things with that WP. UAI in unmodded games and free weapon use from Ashes of Embers. The bottom line is that IMO a Short Sword is the perfect weapon for a small thief?.

Q. Will she be romanceable?

A. No. See below for more details.

Q. Will she have a quest?

A. Not in the first release. See below for more details.

Q. What are your plans for releasing her and where are you in terms of making this mod?

A. I?ve just started the serious writing and looking into the WeDUI instructions for creating an NPC. I?m announcing now so that I can get input and ideas on some very basic stuff that I need more info on. For instance I?m fairly ignorant of the various FR deities. I need to find a good god for her. I may also need assistance on interaction with NPC?s I don?t usually take in my parties like Korgan.

A. What I?m planning on right now is writing one to three banters with existing Bio NPC and interjections for the usual places (Tree of Life, etc.). And releasing that as Phase I. Phase II will probably involve adding or modifying banters, looking into adding banters for mod NPCs, and getting ideas for a quest. Phase III will involve quest implementation.

A. I?ve heard folks asking for a dwarf/gnome/Halfling romance ? but I?m not planning on that right now. If there is enough hue and cry I might consider adding a Phase IV for that ? but as of now no romance.

Nice Char, just don't make me romance the bearded lady. :)

Look at this for deities

dwarfgods

I think CL/TH is a possible multiclass for dwarves.

I think it is a legal multiclass aswell. And I don't know the problem of Anomen? He is a Dual Class fighter/cleric what is wrong with that?

Still modding the Mod for the Wicked... It is a big project you know... And I got sidetracked (several times) a bit... sorry.

Oh, it's legal in PnP ... but just try it in BGII. :)

Anomen lacks the stats to be a dual classed F/C.

And thanks for the link Jester!

even after his upgrade <_< I think that is what they had in mind storywise.

Small question:

Why make Fiora LN?

LN's are the ones who follow laws and enjoy order to the letter, but thieves are...well... thieves because they actively break the law. (steal from others, unlock doors that lead to places that belong to other people, etc etc.)

To me, she seems more like a CN, than an LN.

AD&D Thief is not always the same as the real-world def of thief, I.E. one who steals. Among many others....

There are "Bounty Hunters" who are essentially counter-thieves, the guys who trap and bushwhack the ?real? thieves.

There are ?Scouts,? who specialize in stealth to find and sometimes remove foes.

There are "Adventurer" thieves who specialize in trap detection & disarming, not stealing.

Fiora fall more into this last category. She is essentially law abiding, however she knew that in order to successfully navigate Durlag?s Tower she would have to navigate the traps her ancestor had set. So she made sure that she learned how to spot, set, and disarm traps and how to take care of locks. The ToB version of Fiora will also have a fair Detect Illusions score. I don?t plan on putting any points into her Pick Pockets skills, and her stealth related skills will not be particularly well developed ... though of course once she is a NPC in someone else?s party they will be free to develop her however they wish. I?ll also note that from a purely game mechanical point of view the Sanctuary spell will enable her to act stealthily if necessary.

So the bottom line is that Fiora learned the skills she would need in order to successfully conclude an adventure that she wanted to undertake & in my view this has nothing to do with how she views laws in general or how well she works in group settings, the customary AD&D measures of law and chaos.

Fiora is ?lawful? in that she prefers to work in groups and that overall she respects the rules of society. She doesn?t care for ?breaking and entering? into residuals dwellings but she feels fully into navigating dungeon craws using her specialized skills.

Eh, Cleric/Thiefs are perfectly possible in BG2. Sure for PCS, only gnomes can select the combo, but for NPCs any race goes :).

I thought it was changed a bit earlier myself. But I do believe that Rogues shouldn't be lawful because backstabbing and sneaking are seen as potentially dishonest acts.
