I still would like various encounters to be somewhat randomized in terms of not nessarily knowing that you'll fight 2 wizards, 3 fighters in this area, that some aspects of who you fight shouldn't be pre-determined. Of course this doesn't apply to major npcs.
Make encounters more randomized

Like encountering Drow raiding party or mountain giants(with ToB)?

In the outdoor area preceding Sendai's enclave you might run into a band of fire giants who have been sent to take prisoners for interrogation and never got word that Y-S is no longer interested.
Probably, though, it would be more like having a thief/priest of Mask (backstab + Harm) supporting Kiser and his thieves on one occasion, two medium level mages plus two tougher fighters showing up on a second run-through and one high level mage, who appears in a different place, for the third option. If they each have different attack preferences in spell schools, it would make it that much harder to buff prior to the encounter.

One thing on my "to-do-if-I-ever-get-around-to-it" list is to work on patrols. Basically, it's just one cre following a set path and the others just following that one. It's still the same group, but the location of the encounter changes. Of course, with multiple groups there could be times when you get ambushed mid-battle.... I like that.
