I'm curious as to how the maze spell works. The spell description says that the duration is based on the intelligence of the target as follows:

The duration of the effect is:
0 to 2 int -> 2d4 rounds
3 to 5 int -> 1d4 rounds
6 to 8 int -> 5d4 rounds
9 to 11 int -> 4d4 rounds
12 to 14 int -> 3d4 rounds
15 to 17 int -> 2d4 rounds
18+ int -> 1d4 rounds

but I have heard murmers that it does not work this way. Could someone shed some light on this.

The reason I am wondering, is if the maze spell effect can be given a duration of permanent, then the imprisonment effect can be replaced with a permanent maze effect and avoid all the problems with the PC dying, and other party members getting kicked out when imprisoned.

The maze effect ignores the dice rolls, therefore eliminating randomness. So as an example it says 1D4 rounds for an int of 18+, however it really is 1 round, ignoring the second dice value. IIRC you can set these in the INTMOD.2DA file.

The only problem with this is that you cannot go into a party required area until you have everyone freed, etc. That is why you always have to wait when you mazed someone until you can move between areas. So if you make the duration permanent, your entire party are stuck in that area forever. :(

I have made a work-around however in the shape of a released mod (check my site). It kicks out PCs, but it doesn't break local variables. Freedom works correctly, and you can regain control of your summoned imprisoned creatures after freeing them (provided you do so before the summon expires). I haven't tested on romances, but people have reported it doesn't break romances. Give it a try and report any findings, etc. :)
