how hard would it be to create a centor for BGII? half man, half horse.

Very tricky. You'd have to make all the new animations...

Yeah. Depending on which half is which, you'd at least have to erase the horns on 1500 or so frames of minotaur animations. If it's the other way around, you'd have to create them all from scratch.

Coming from an animator's experience, it would be, how to be polite...a pain in the arse?

Heh

how come you always look so damn cool in every photo I see you in?!?

Speaking of modding, I listened to IER 3 yesterday, so you can have another quote for your signature: how come you sound so damn cool, as well as look it? It's unfair. Seriously.

Well, there is a horse animation already in the game (it just....stands there), so if you just chop off its head and neck, then add the upper torso and head....

It'd be a challenge, but not impossible.

Erm..it maybe far more complicated than that. I was asking once how difficult it was to do a mounted figure and horse animation from the game was not quite what's needed.

With animations there are several things to consider. The animation files for the IE are BAM formats, BMP's spread over a 3D frame,

A native 3D (common format at least) is 3DS which is much better to use as there are no colour gradients, muscles or whatnot, you are in omplete control.

Carving up existing animations is bad form and not very easy to do.

Carving up existing animations practically guarantees that it'll work in the game.

Bad form or not; if it works then its all good. ;)

If one gets really desperate, Adobe and BamWorkshop do the trick.

I never said it would be easy, just that creating a centaur isn't impossible. :P

So says the drow rogue. ;)

A lot depends on how much you're going to have the creature do, too. If it's just going to stand there in a cutscene, only one facing and one animation would be needed. If it has to trot away after it's speech, that's another sequence. If it has to be a fully functional NPC, fighting, spell casting, taking damage, facing all directions - that's a killer job.

Especially if you want it to fit through doors.
