It always seemed a bit annoying that your lich can step out into a busy street, summon a demon and start firing of symbols, and nothing is done about him... (well except for suicidal Amnish Guards...) but your party gets busted the moment you try to cast stone-skin.

Now... I realize it would be impossible to script Cowled Wizard interference with every NPC mage that casts outside...

So just 2 new encounters - a mage (possibly a part of a bandit group) tries to attack you, and gets his behind handed to him by the Wizards... and another mage gets interrupted by the wizards, shows his liscense... "Carry on, citizen"...

I assume that this is just an aesthetic measure?

how come you always look so damn cool in every photo I see you in?!?

Speaking of modding, I listened to IER 3 yesterday, so you can have another quote for your signature: how come you sound so damn cool, as well as look it? It's unfair. Seriously.

Well... unless somebody feels capable of actually scripting a "Cowled Wizards arrive to take care of 60% of NPC spellcasting" (allowing for liscensed mages), these 2 encounters provide a compromise for players who don't get why enemy mages never get jumped. Let's suppose liches are too threatening/manage to keep their spells from being detected - do bandit mages really have 5000 gp to cough up?

PS - In case somebody feels like actually scripting the NPC interference... in the end of the day, it would simply be based on their reaction to PC spells, right? I'm not even asking for free help to the PC - make the hostile to both sides...

I always kill all of them up to and including Kollonius Pac and Zallanora. They better not show up near my party, anywhere, again, EVAR.

Heh. I was planning a fan-fic in part based on this idea. :)

I like the two proposed scenarios, especially the Cowled ones showing up, looking at the license, and leaving again.

That's...a strage idea for a mod <_< It doesn't mean that it is not bugging me that it is only me who is the target of Our Sweet Amnish Mages Who Think That They Can Push Me Around but it would be kind of...hilarious seeing those mages teleporting in a middle of a fight and asking spellcasters of both sides to show their license...

Hmm... it appears that the unfinished buisness modders have been reading my mind again... *shrug*

Anyways - who's up for modding CW reactions to NPC mages?

Come on, it should only take a month or so... :P

hehe many gta players seem to have that same problem.... how hard is it to really script npc interactions with authorities.

it's actually a simple concept to work with

I could code this up in an hour or two if you really want it.

Don't really have an hour to spare at the present, however.
