What about an additional stronghold sort of thing? Suppose the PC could BUILD a castle/keep/what-have-you? You could use your money to pay for it, and when it was completed you could have it as a stronghold, complete with little quests and things. I think it would be a lot of fun, but I cannot do it myself. I have ZERO area-editing ability. Just a thought.

There are some things to consider beforehand though. The PC has only the loot on hand for Irenicus' dungeon to start chapter 2. He/she is supposed to be hot to pursue Irenicus/Imoen and the 20,000 gp needed for that is supposed to be an imposing sum. Too, Amn is entirely terra incognita as far as the PC is concerned. What inducement, then, could be offered the PC to contemplate settling down in Amn? It is possible that one of the current quest/stronghold givers might be involved if the PC is deemed satisfactory but that would conflict to some degree with the current strongholds.

Turn the previous question around from the pov of the Council. Assuming the PC's new stronghold is to be a public enterprise (as opposed to, say, a new, secret thieves' hideout), the government would have a say in any such undertaking. Why would it be allowed? What bureaucratic obstacles would have to be overcome? Knowledgable officials probably have *some* idea of who the PC is due to (mostly) favorable reports from Baldur's Gate. However, the PC shows up in Athkatla very suddenly and in rather dubious circumstances (Imoen even gets arrested), so the government might be just a wee bit skeptical of a PC who wants to build and occupy a new fortification. A townhouse or even an unfortified rural manor might arouse less opposition - and be far more vulnerable.

In as greedy and litigous society as Amn, there is probably no such thing as a perfectly clear land title. Once the PC begins to set up in some forlorn clump of wilderness, who else, from outright conmen to representatives of great noble families, might show up to assert a claim on a property that now looks like being worth something?

In order to even consider such a step, the PC would almost have to claim sponsorship from some established noble family, church or other establishment organization. How supportive might the patron be? What else might the patron have on the old agenda?

Really, this could about be expanded to a TC, set five-ten years after SoA-ToB. Besides the fun of deciding how some of the (now non-joinable) NPCs have developed, there's plenty of scope for RP, new quests, etc. Fitting it in to the frameword of SoA would almost be more difficult, given the plot logic there.

Heh... It was not so long ago when you had zero coding ability if I'm not entirely mistaken? :D And now Tsujatha is not that far from the beta release...

Really the hardest part of area editing are the graphics (if you're ambitious) of course and you can get quite far by simply cutting and pasting from the existing. After that you just need a lot of patience with IETME.

Ihmeellinen meri

Kummalliset kalat liukuvat syvyydessä,
tuntemattomat kukat loistavat rannalla;
olen nähnyt punaista ja keltaista ja kaikki toiset värit -
mutta ihana meri on vaarallista nähdä,
se herättää tulevien seikkailujen janon:
mitä on tapahtunut sadussa, on tapahtuva minullekin.

Perhaps an after TOB thing to do with all the cash from sellign the magical items that were useless to you but would make a BGI party drool
