Editing enrage and kai duration?

Maybe it's just me, but several abilities (the two above are handy examples) don't actually have a fixed duration, and often disappear once a battle has ended - no matter how short the battle was. Frustrating - especially when you're counting on an enraged Korgan to smash through 3-4 seperate mini-encounters. Even more frustrating that the game often mistakes a momentary pause for the end of the battle - I've had Viconia start chattering in Sendai's lair...
