Well anyway when I was a kid I used to watch the cartoon where a bunch of teens went on the dungeons and dragons ride and got sucked into a whole another world where there was magic...etc I thought it had no relation to proper D&D until I saw some artwork on the wizards.com (where is the Helm pic?)

This is Tiamat the dragon who was also a lesser deity in FR and I wanted to know if there was a connection or is it purely coincidental that there is a god called Tiamat and the 5 headed dragon Tiamat and if the cartoon had any real link with FR?

btw I found the Helm pic (he is using a sword when he really should have a hammer methinks).

hmm.... wasen't Tiamat also the main evil goddess in Dragonlance/krynn ? or same deity but in different world. know some of teh deities are multi world, Mielikki are also venerated in Dragonlance (Mielikki blue cloack iirc, dont recall anything more, never liked DragonLance)

EDIT: the HELM vs Marilith picture is on page 29 in the Forgotten Realms - Faiths and Pantheons, for 3rd edition.

The show had no relation to the FR.

1st ed AD&D Tiamat was listed as a unique dragon as well as the queen of the metallic dragons not as a deity.

At least one of the weekly visiters appeared in an old expert D&D adventure in a different world.

The evil goddess in Dragonlance is called Takhisis

Yep, I know the cartoon, and was very proud to find a dvd of the series, now I just got to get the other two, I also found the original Transformers cartoons but didn't have enough money
I apparently have a high level of empathy, combined with a low level of sympathy... weird

The only problem is that the characters were a bit lame. The wizard could never cast a straight spell, there is no class such as the acrobat, Sheila was a lame thief, the babarian was a little boy and the cavalier's attitude and personality was all wrong for a paladin (and he had a shield but no sword). The only good one was the ranger.

I'm done tearing it apart :D (for now)

That's queen of the "chromatic" dragons. The cartoon pre-date FR, but AD&D had her listed and in use long before even that. ;)

The great wolf Fenrir gapes ever at the dwelling of the gods.

Chalk it up to a lack of sleep

1st ed Uneathed Arcana had classes called thief-acrobat and cavalier.
Acrobat was a specialist thief type avialable to some 5th level thieves.
The cavalier was the archtypical knight and he still didn't measure up.
