while i agree that some of the bone hill items are powerful especially for a lower level party, taking away the Staff of the Blue Dragon is overzealous and stupid. the followup quest with the necromancer shargrailar chasing you for possessing the staff is destroyed because someone thought it would be clever to replace the Staff of the Blue Dragon with an unmagic quarterstaff in the cellar maze of bone hill castle.
fix is simple but requires a cheat. rolling back to the previous state of bone hill would be better.
