Hello,

I'm running a BGT megamod, and I encountered a band of nasty Bounty Hunter dwarves in the Nashkel Mines.

They're way too strong. They kill me almost instantly.

I don't know what mod they come from.

But I understand that the only way to pass them is by cheating.

So I wonder what is the best way to do it.

There is a command : CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys() 

And it enables the following cheat :

CTRL+Y  --> kills the creature under the cursor.

I haven't tried to switch my game to cheat mode yet, but I read that this command can break the game and prevent some quests from advancing.

So I wonder, what is the best way to get rid of the dwarves?

I'm puzzled about the Widescreen mod.

Yes. Like everybody I think.

In the bible it says (page 281) :

In theory it may be useful to install the Widescreen mod after Generalized Biffing because you could uninstall the
widescreen mod again easily if you don't like it. However - this does not work. For some reasons the game will freeze.
Maybe an incompatibility arises with other .exe-patches that were installed before - I don't know. For the moment the
install order Thieves Galore - Widescreen - Generalized Biffing is the only working one.

Ok.

And I noticed on this forum, that people use to follow this rule. It's word of the Bible after all.

But...

I did the test.

I installed a megamod with nearly 300 mods (see post here) without the Widescreen mod. And then I applied it....over the Generlized Biffing.....and it seems to work like a charm.

I got no errors during the install.

I mean....I don't have any freezes or lockups. (I played for an hour or so)

What do you think?

I have a question about two of my favourite mods.

Jarl BGT adventure Pack and Northern Tales of the Sword Cost

Are those two mods really incompatible??

I'm using BWP v15.7

When I launch an install with the parameters (heavy tweaks settings), both are installed OK.

But when I use the individual.bat (my own custom-made) I have to make a choice between the two.

Is there a way to play both in a megamod?

I've decided to share my experience at installing my own mega-mod. First because I have some questions, and would like help from experienced guys like you.

Second, because I wanna show everyone it's possible to make a megamod easily without any hassle (well...relatively speaking)

It's not my first time. I've already done this years ago It was v9 at that time. My first attempt wasn't a success.

Then  I made another megamod for v12 a few years later.

This time the operation was a success. I got a stable game. No errors. With over 300 mods.

And it was a joy to play. And it gave me houndreds of hours of fantastic gameplay..

But...unfortunately...I messed up later with my backup and lost everything. My fabulous megamod was lost forever...lost in the abyss...I looked into the abyss... and the abyss gazed into me....and ..err.anyway

Now, years later, again, I've decided to come back and check on BWP progress.

I should say first I don't use BWS.

BWS is for sissies. (no offense)

I do it with the BWP guide and my own modified individual.bat. Like in the Ancient Times.

I've just downloaded the latest Big World guide (v15.7), picked up some mods carefully, reading each time the manual, the read me and sometimes the forums (that step takes a looong time, several weeks for me. Patience and method are required here)

And then I launched the monster.

5 hours later (on my 3.2Ghz quadcore and 16Gb RAM), my 300 mods were installed. (There are exactly 300 mods. yes)

No hassle, no difficulties. No worries.

It's magic.

The megamod as you will see is based on Refinements, BG2fixpack, ScS (ScS is sooo amazing), the Big mods (without Nej, NeJ2 is a breaker....but a new revised version is coooming), Spell Rev (spell rev is tricky), Item Rev and the usual tweak packs.

I didn't install Divine Remix. (because of refinements and spell rev). Nor BP-ascension.

And I have a lot of NPCs, quests and other stuff. The logfile has no errors, except some parse_errors with atweaks. But atweaks installs SUCCESSFULLY and I've been confirmed it's ok.

The philosophy of this megamod is STABILITY. To guarantee a safe passage through BGT from the beginning to the end.

Some mods didn't make the cut and were considered too risky, too messy or too buggy.

Sure, there are bugs. Mods aren't perfect and with a monster like this one, it would be a miracle to have a completely bug-free experience.

But, from my small experience, playing several configurations in the past, you get a pretty stable and cohesive game.

The pleasure you get playing all those great historical mods together in a single game can be ... orgasmic.

[OPTIONNAL QUESTIONS]

1) What do you think about this whole configuration? Does it smell good?

Or is it fishy?

2) it seems my BG1NPCSoA mod (BG1 NPC for BG2 v9) seems to conflict with a lot of the BG2 standalone NPC mods (Xan for BG2, Coran for BG2, etc...).

That's normal I know. But what do you think is best? Keep the BG1NPCSoA or the standalone NPCs? Which one would you keep?

3) Is it safe to remove the banter acceleration for BG1, BG2 and ToB (this is a component of the BG1NPCproject mod)? because I'm a really slow player..really slow player.....SOLVED

4) The multistronghold mod couldn't be installed. Because as the debug file says :

[Setup-multistronghold.exe] WeiDU version 23900

Using Language [English]

SKIPPING: [Make the bard stronghold available to all classes]

      Skipping this component, as you have a multiple-strongholds component from Tactics installed"

But...I dont have the Tactics mod!! I haven't downloaded it. So why is it assuming I have?

Can someone help me on that? SOLVED

5) I left the XP settings just as it is. ..by default....Just like it's described on page 292 of the manual. What do you think about this? Should I modify them considering my configuration? (I've installed BGT, BG2tweak, BP-Balancer, atweaks and the DEFJAM). And considering the huge number of NPCs I have (yes I wanna play with them all). What would be your settings?

....well, that's it for now. I don't have any other questions. They'll surely come in time. For now, I'm just gonna concentrate on hunting bugs and goblins, and report on what I find.

individual.bat

 

the individual.bat has been modified. Nothing fancy, mind you.

 

But numerous modifications were made. Because of bugs with the individual.bat (e.g.  two incompatible components were installed together) or to change my xp settings (xpmod, bp-balancers) or to change some major tweaks (bg2tweaks, atweaks) or to remove banter accelerators (I don't like them) or to make tougher enemies (tactic mods like revised battles, ScS) or to make other minor choices.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

 

When you run Big World install.bat, it asks you questions, to help you customize the package.

It wouldn't make much sense in that case to choose the option [2] parameters/settings. Because those parameters only help you make a selection of the mods it detects. It filters the mods you have in your game directory.

If you're like me...if you know what you want, and you've already made your choice choosing the right mods, then select option [3], which allows you to run your own custom individual.bat file. This way, you have entire control.

 

Then it asks you for conflict resolution. Choose the following answers :

 

original BGT GUI vs 1pp improved optics --> choose the improved optics

 

1pp Items vs Item Revisions --> choose Item Revisions

 

BG1NPCSoA vs all the NPCs mods --> choose the NPCs mods

 

Coran NPC vs RE --> Choose Coran (RE will install as well, but avoiding the conflicts with Coran)

 

ScS vs DSoA --> choose ScS

 

Jarl Adventure Pack vs NToTSC --> install both!!! yes. Here, this one breaks the philosophy of the megamod. Because you will have some NPCs (namely SVLAST and PILAR) twice. And you'll do the quests twice!

I know it breaks the 4th wall. I know. I know.  And you know I love realism as much as you do. But those two mods are just too good. So I go for it, I install both. It's been reported no crash. Just duplicate quests.

 

Don't clean up - so you can install other mods later if you need to.

WIDESCREEN and BIGGER FONTS

 

I don't use the widescreen mod. I'm playing 800x600 on an old LCD monitor (old style).

But you can add it to the mod list if you want. During the setup of the megamod, it will ask you for the resolution you want. (like  X=1920 Y=1080). The WS mod will be installed before Generalized Biffing (see the manual).

 

There is also a nice mod that makes fonts bigger. Essential if you're playing on high resolution screens. Here it is.

You can install it over the megamod. Or add it to the individual.bat. Easy

I installed my own megamod with over 300 mods (according to Leonardo's guide) and everything went fine.

Everything is installed. No error. The game just works fine.

But there is a small detail that eludes me.

I can't understand why setup-GUI.exe installs the graphic user interface for Shadows over Soubar!!!

If I don't install Shadows over Soubar, setup-GUI installs the good interface (Elminster wielding Staff - choice 5)

On the other hand , If I install Shadows over Soubar, setup-GUI leaves me with the Shadow over Soubar interface (choice 1).

Why is it that way?

I'm playing BGT, so I expect to see the Elminster interface for BGT.

I know it's a small detail, but it bothers me.

Is it safe to force setup-GUI to install the elminster image (choice 5) ?
