I'm hoping there is just a few files I can copy over to fix this

I really, really don't want to re-install everything again. That was a b1tch.

It's funny cause it's true. How many times have you installed?? The first 2 or 3 times is just to learn how to. You should be albe to get right after 4 or 5 times.

Maybe while I install everything I can watch Dances With Wolves *and* The Two Towers and maybe I'll be done by then.

I have the SAME problem.
I get the BG2 map in BG1. Is this by design?
Let me ask this: Does the BG2 installation HAVE to go the the C drive? I don't have enough room on my C drive, so I am using the installation directory D:\Program Files\Baldur. Yes, BG1 is installed in C:\Baldur like the instructions say. I did get some quick messages during the install that mentioned it could not find a path to "Files", like it couldn't read the space between Program and Files, but it did not stop the install and other than that, the entire install went fine.
I am doing something else wrong? Do you have to start a BG2 game before you start a BG1 game or something? If you have any ideas, I'm all ears. Next I might try re-installing everything to a directory with no spaces, like D:\BP, or something like that, but I have a sinking feeling I'm going to run into the same problem again.

This is the kind of thing worth mentioning in an initial post.Let me ask this: Does the BG2 installation HAVE to go the the C drive? The entire procedure has to be on the same drive.

Just to make it clear BG1 can be installed on D:\Baldur along with everything else.
I can confirm that. I did not have enough space on c:\ so installed everything
on D:\ and I finally seem to have done it right. (5th or 6th try, don't remember)
After one failed install I had exactly the same problem as the original poster describes.
I reinstalled once again and did not have any problems so far. (Only played until I reached High Hedge and Beregost)
There were only minor differences between those installs as far as I remember:
Failed install:
- selected 'baldurdash fixes' when installing SoS and TDD
- did not install the NeJ Moonknight
Working install (so far):
- installed the NeJ Moonknight
- left SoS and TDD installs as is (did not select baldurdash fixes)

So, does this mean that the install guides are most likely wrong? Maybe they need updating?

i'd speculate that perhaps in the BGII install part of mwiforum's install process, s/he installed the baldurdash fixes then (easily done - i've done it - but a mistake) and hence when SoS and TDD came round to installing what was already there, things went haywire.

Sorry Hild but you forgot this
Installing on drive > ? <
This is my quote
I have installed it 5 times & it all runs ok.
I start a bg 2 game set up my pc.
Let imoen run her head and get the auto save exit it all.
go back in start bg1 set up my pc.
get to Candlekeep with a level ( 7 ) pc.
I go back and run the XpPatcher & my bgmain.exe is set at 100 xp.
Well what the hell can i do now ?
This is the answer ( quote ) i got
Use Near Infinity to edit your PC

Thank you for the help.
But this is a workaround not a fix.
Every time i start a new game i well need to look up all the stats
and edit my pc.
Well if that is all i can do so be it.
But is there a way to fix it.
This is the answer ( quote ) i got
Reinstall untill it works right is the best fix.

for BGT to install, both BGI and BGII need to be on the same drive or partition - if you have BGI on C: and BGII on D:, the install won't work.
Here is what i did to make it work
Install BG1 in C:\baldur
Install BG2 in E:\Baldurs Gate Trilogy
Using the instructions at the top of this post. to set it all up.
Go E:\Baldurs Gate Trilogy\BGT3\root
I put a copy the XPpatcher in my C:\baldur\Temp\ dir.
At the start i leave my Explorer open
I run the install just like the instructions
Run the automated install as the XPpatcher appears at the end of BGT DOS window.
When BGT ends the XPpatcher appears.
I close the XPpatcher window but i leave the BGT DOS window open.
I highlight Explore on the task bar & go to my E:\Baldurs Gate Trilogy\ dir.
Move BGMaine.exe to my C:\baldur\Temp\ dir.
Go to my C:\baldur\Temp\ dir.
Run XPpatcher and edit my BGMaine.exe seting it to 100 xp
Move BGMaine.exe back to my E:\Baldurs Gate Trilogy\ dir.
Go back to my E:\Baldurs Gate Trilogy\ dir.
Now i close my BGT DOS window and the automated install start's up again.
I run the rest just like the instructions
Now every thing is working right
I think the XPpatcher has to be on C drive because it put's it' log file on C drive.

no, the install guides are most definitely correct. that said, BP-BGT (or, let's face it, *anything* with BGT) is a voodoo install: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... i'm pleased that mwiforum got their install working, even if it involved disregardng the installation instructions - whatever works, at the end of the day.... but i'm not going to start recommending that people start disregarding the install guides, because a: they work; and b: there is no b.
Sorry, I did not mean to critisize the install guides or recommend to disregard them.
Maybe one of the installs failed for another mistake I made during the installation that I did not notice.
i'd speculate that perhaps in the BGII install part of mwiforum's install process, s/he installed the baldurdash fixes then (easily done - i've done it - but a mistake) and hence when SoS and TDD came round to installing what was already there, things went haywire.
I don't think I installed baldurdash fixes. I did a fresh install of BGII, ToB and the latest patch. I then configured it and started a game using this installation. After that I backed up my BGII folder using WinRAR. For each reinstall of BP/BGT I restored from the RAR and started from there.

Just letting you guys know this isn't an isolated issue and should probably be looked into.
it's not an isolated issue, but it doesn't need to be looked into: having the wrong worldmap is conclusive proof of a bad install, i'm afraid. BP-BGT-NEJ truly is a voodoo install, so Chev's post earlier in this thread
is sadly not a joke but a statement of truth. How many times have you installed?? The first 2 or 3 times is just to learn how to. You should be albe to get right after 4 or 5 times.
as to which step went wrong in yr install, i'm not sure: possibly step 2 in shadowtech's install guide:
2. Run Setup-BP-BGT-NEJ_PATCH313.exe BUT DONT INSTALL IT, just run it then select [N] for install.
NOTE: This is VERY important. I learned this the HARD way: if you don?t do this your install will FAIL and you?ll waste an hour and alot of hard work, you will get a message saying "please re-run Setup-BP-BGT.exe to actually install the mod, windows wont let me do it". If you get this message your install WILL FAIL, when you try to play you will start in the first dungeon in BGII and not in Candledeep, trust me, as it happened to me.
