I cant understand whats the problem...I have a 3.06ghz processor with a geforce fx 5200 or something with Winxp, but the bg2 game STILL has problems...Its like the game crawls or something...the characters actually are like they all have the stutter bug if u know what i mean...Also the game crawls unbelievably especially at night and mostly outside NOT in buildings or dungeons...

I tried doing some changes in the bg2 configuration but in vain...no shadows OR no 3d acceleration OR putting 3gigas cache in options..Should I try to change the resolution from 800x600 to something else?Or disable the enhanced pathfinding?? I mean are there any tips for changes in the bg2 configuration??? Or what??

I happened to play the game perfectly with the same party at the beginning in a 450mhz pc with a Rivatnt2 thats why I "can't" get it...

Any information and help would be really appreciated...

PS : Sorry for being a little off-topic but I can hardly enjoy the bp mods with such a problem... :(
Something is wrong and I cannot figure out what... Perhaps i have messed up my install???

Do a search on "Stutter Bug" and ignore the dialog/romance references. There's dozens of such threads where this is discussed. (Use a long backdate.) The fixes are listed therein.

I have the same bug. The game starts out o.k. but the problem gets progressively worse. Doing a search on stutter bug yeilds no answers. Reinstalling doesn't help. It only happens when I play BP. With just TDD installed it never happened. What can it be? :bash:

I had exactly the same problem, several solutions corrected that (for me):
*( ctrl+alt+supp )and one by one you close ALL your residents program
*close your internet connection, virus ,firewall etc..
*don't wear too many objects in your containers ( VERY IMPORTANT) such arrows, scrolls etc..., try to have an inventory as empty as possible. you can test with nothing in your inventory you will see the difference...
*disable climate
*disable acceleration 3D
*disable acceleration audio ( dxdiag in the start menu, enter and you take the good option )

3gigas cache in options.

cache is just for the load i think...

there are plenty other solutions, i gave the more significatives.

edit:
yes, multiromance can explain this problem ( stuttering) cause the script verify constantly the romances

You can try biffing your override as well. That and having too many items in your containers are the biggest culprits. You can store items in other places too, like a stronghold or really any other spot you know you can always go back to. With ToB installed, somewhere early in Watcher's Keep would work.

these i didnt understand but thanks anyway :) im sure it ll be better when i throw away items....i have more than 500 items i think in bags not to mention thousands of arrows and potions...that MUST be it...

PS : by the way it was hard to find any solution with a search for "stutter bug"

sorry i made a mistake :
* disable the climaTE

* disable the audio acceleration : you write dxdiag in the start menu , OK, you choose the mitre sound and you desactive the audio acceleration. ( no acceleration )

(but I agree I do not know if you need that moreover )

There are two ways I know of to bif the override, though I'd suggest only doing this if none of the other methods work for you.

1) Use Winbiff.

2) Use Weidu with the --make-biff command.

Here's a thread I found about this topic, though it's quite old:

I tried most of your tips (mainly the throw away items) and i have to say that the situation is greatly improved though not completely fixed...Thanks a lot Ferrumach u've been most helpful...

PS : Perhaps its bad that I have stacks of 50+ potions on each characters quickslots???
Or is the problem just on the items placed in the containers?? Should I throw away also most items in inventory too?? How do i disable the climate?

Yes 50+ is too much. Try a few 50+ and the rest at 10+

-i think it is a good explanation of your problem, that's why i never installed the ease of use component : infinite stacks, thus: max : 5 ! and don't try more... ( but make your own test )

How do i disable the climate

-(in the game)
option/game/ and you disable the climate.

From the Weidu ReadMe:

Creating a BIFF File

This tutorial was thoughtfully provided by Japheth.

Using --make-biff is dead easy. Here's a quick and dirty example:

Assuming WeiDU is in your BGII directory, grab a bunch of files from your override folder and stick them into a folder inside your BGII directory. We'll call the folder mybiff for this example.

Once the files are inside the folder, this is all you would have to do to make WeiDU create a biff of the files:

C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\> weidu --make-biff mybiff

  [c:\src\weidu\weidu.exe] WeiDU version 122
  [./chitin.key] 182 BIFFs, 41793 resources
  [./dialog.tlk] 82479 string entries
[data\mybiff.bif] will contain 20 resources totalling 211096 bytes
  [data\mybiff.bif] incorporating [mybiff/udsola02.cre]
          ...
  [data\mybiff.bif] incorporating [mybiff/sola10.cre]
KEY saved (183 biffs, 41813 resources)

WeiDU will add the files into the BIFF mybiff.bif and stick that file in your data directory. It will also update the CHITIN.KEY.

Before using this feature, make sure you backup your CHITIN.KEY.

Chiten.key is in the main BG2 folder, which is where weidu.exe should be. The exact command you'll type in the DOS window is "weidu --make-biff mybiff", where mybiff is the name of the biff file you want to get as a result.

unless i'm misunderstanding what yr doing, the problem is the 'start weidu' step (this is assuming you've moved those files of yr override folder you want to biff to a 'mybiff' folder). yuo don't want to start weidu: you want to start a cmd window (in my XP: start -> programs -> accessories -> command prompt) and change directories until you get into yr BGII folder *and then* type in 'weidu --make-biff mybiff'.
