Hi,
When doing the Xzar/Harper quest everything is normal until Xzar is killed and the real Xzar dimension doors in. If you let him join, the door to the Harper hold is locked, so you can't go in to look for Montaron.
If you cheat yourself in, the body of Montaron isn't in chest01.
If you CLUA in the body to your inventory, when you are at the second floor in the Harper hold, the script works ok from there.
I have looked at the scripts but can't find the problem.

Monty shouldn't be there immediately. This was something Horred mentioned when trying to clean up the TDD quests. He said that the original plan was for you to not get Monty until a later chapter. He mentioned that he would add this into the mod. I'll look at the area script to confirm the timing but I know that was his plan.
I wasn't too thrilled about this solution since I haven't been using these two and I just wanted the quest over with.
