Is there any tried and tested way to acquire other strongholds if you?re not of that class? Okay so I know that TS allows you to have multi-strongholds if you?re a paladin or ranger but if you don't want to play A goody two shoes class what are the other methods?

The expanded thief?s stronghold although a big fat incompatible - M does have an interesting bs. file and instructions. Would this work, I?m always cautious about script relating stuff. :w00t:

As an alternative could multiple strongholds be achieved by playing with Shadowkeeper or changing globals?

Anyway here's the cheat for thief stronghold

Small 'cheat' script allowing a non-thief character to gain the Thief Stronghold.

Instructions:

1. Place script in the /scripts/ directory.
2. Accept the reward from Renal as you normally would. While still in the Shadow Thief Guild, just after talking to Renal, follow the steps below:
3. Assign the script to a character.
4. Turn the AI on (if it's off).
5. Firmly tap the 'E' key.

APPARENTLY CAN'T UPLOAD BS. EXTENSION FILES, NASTY ADMINISTRATORS

*Edit by hlid: They can be attached now. :shifty: *

try giving the file a .bcs extension: they're accepted by the forum, and are for all intents and purposes (except for being usable by the character.... but hey, the player has to do *some* work!) the same as .bs extensions. or wait til hlid sees this message and updates the forum permissions :P.

re: multi-strongholds. i always have the ease-of-use component installed, myself (or at least an edited version: i can never be bothered with the cleric and the paladin stronghold quests). sometimes it causes weird problems (the priests of talos attacked my party on sight in one game) but it's a small price to pay for the opportunity to do the stronghold quests i *do* like.

okay uploaded the file for the those that understand to check out and I'm fully aware of your other answer to this topic . Ease of use has always worried me as this is like playing with nitro. Is there any SAFE way to get lots of strongholds??

nope: it's unprotected modding at its finest :P. Ease of Use is at least weidu, so if everything goes badly, uninstalling the component *should* roll you back to a previously working install....

for what its worth, the multi-stronghold component in my Ease-of-Use currently looks like this (and has caused no problems this game, other than the usual one of Delon, Meck and the Keep Messenger all wanting me to be in different places simultaneously ;) ):

this gives the druid, mage, fighter and ranger quests. i'm playing a bard, so skipped installing that one (it's HAERDA.D and RAELIS.D) and i hate the thief one (you always lose it when yr doing the TDD quests: damn those 12 day trips to Calimshan and 4 day trips to the Troll Hills!) but if you want the thief one its RENAL.D.

There is a way to get multiple strongholds with shadowkeeper and as far as i know it works all right (although i have yet to finish my BP game, so i'm not sure about that ; in a normal game it works like a charm).
Here goes. Before engaging in a conversation which grants a stronghold, change your class with shadowkeeper to the one you're about to get. In a normal game ypu have to set playerhasstronghold to 0, but this is unneccesary in BP (thanks to TS). After the conversation change your class back to the original one. The only tricky bit is when to change your class. I usually do it twice (and have gotten every stronghold this way), once on the quest giving conversation (for example, the unseeing eye gathering in the temple district, speaking the first time with garret) and when finishing the quest (speaking to the patron temple after killing the unseeing eye, speaking to garret after rescuing his child).
One last tip : don't level when you've changed to another class.
Happy gaming.

wellunhappy, multi-stronghold component of TS add all strongholds to all multi- and dual-class characters beside that paladins, rangers and moks can get De'Arnise castle. If you are playing thief-mage you can get both your guild and PS. I could enable all the strongholds for a single character but I don't like this idea.

I agree Vlad, but I like to play all differnt quest. For story line I would think of the ranger quests as being for Minsc and the druid being for Jaheira, and so on. Now that they are working NPC Strongholds link, something I posted on a wish list way back on TeamBG, :D you will be able to play the quests though you NPCs. Now it's a waiting game for it to come out and I hope it will be compat. your semi-multi setup for TS or BP.

So what's about this mod? To remove PlayerHasStronghold variable from listed above dialogue files and to add the corresponding triggers to NPCs? Do we really need the whole MOD for this?

Maybe the idea of the mod is to remove the concept that one person can have all these strongholds for themselves. Specially when the stronghold applies to another class. A mage really shouldn't get the thief stronghold. I think they all should get the keep because that doesn't really matter what your profession is to run it. But a paladin running the sphere? Or a thief getting the paladin's room???

So having a high level NPC earning the stronghold may make sense in some strongholds like the thief, ranger or druid strongholds. You still have control over it by way of the NPC but the logic is stronger to have the right class control special strongholds.

Whatever they do with the mod, I hope they fix the thief problem of having to be there to pay up each week. You would think someone would make a character to talk to that can hold some of your money for you to pay off the weekly bills and keep the shadow thieves happy.

If you are not a mage, you will not get the planar sphere as stronghold. As such, with planar sphere return mod install, you will not be able to return to planar sphere and then back to the original place. I was playing a barbarian and did not get the planar sphere. I need to use SK to get the planar sphere and the return icon inside my innate ability.

I think the planar sphere should make a stronghold for every characters.

The idea for the NPC Stronghold mod is that some Bioware NPCs, if it fits their class and their character (there is no way Nalia would offer the keep to Korgan for example) can take over a stronghold if the PC can not. They are the ones running the stronghold and making the decisions, though some NPCs--again, if it fits their character--may ask the PC for input. It's one of them thar content mods.

Why is this Hypnotoad video so popu... ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD.
