Please, nobody punch me in the face for asking a possibly stupid question:  What exactly are the Weidu versions and what does it mean?  Since I'm restarting BP again I want to get it right this time.  I've installed the files that are delineated in the Big Picture Installation Instructions (v1.61G dated 7/6/04) with the addition of the BP_s_and_h_Patchv6.zip.

Is this the right installation method?  Thanks again!

Up to now it's the only way to install it.
You have to wait for weidu-bp.
It isn't ready now.
I guess, still will take some time to convert bp into weidu.
Hope, my english is all right.

Weidu is a program that allows modders to change the main game by adding new elements (mods). What makes it different from the past is that multiple mods can now be installed. Several years ago, you could only install one mod on your game. So you could have The Darkest Day or the Nalia Romance but you couldn't have both.

With Weidu, we can add and remove mulitple mods, each makes the changes needed to the game without screwing up the game for other mods. However, even with Weidu, not all mods are compatible. If two mods change an area, it is quite possible that you will only see the changes from the last mod installed because it overwrote the changes from the first mod.

In the case of BP, Horred started building BP without using Weidu, partly because his original plan was just for himself, not the community. When he allowed others to see his work, it was built like the older mods where it overwrites all the critical files to the game. Other mods using Weidu can be installed on top of BP but you can't install them before BP.

BP is the combination of three large mods (The Darkest Day, Tortured Souls, and Shadows over Soubar). You have to install all three for BP to work, no exceptions. However, with a Weidu version, you could pick and choose which of the three you want (or none at all I guess).

Lastly, by nature of the program, Weidu mods are usually easier to install and uninstall than the older install methods. Therefore, with BP we should have less install problems.
