I was stupid and forgot to make a backup copy of my chitin.key, and now have to reinstall the game, but anyways....

My questions, is what would be the fastest and most simple way to make an NPC that the players can talk with and get a quest. Should I use Creature Maker an set him up, updating the dialogue file or is there an easier way?.(i tried but it messed up my chitin.key)

Also I rememer some time ago there was a huge release of tiles for the Map maker?
I can't seem to find it after I searched, any one know the link?

Thanks,
Pex657

I'm confused how you're messing up your chitin.key creating CRE files.

Make/clone-and-edit a CRE file in the editor of your choice (NI or DLTCEP seem to be most commonly chosen editors for this task), assign it a DLG file, create that DLG file, and create some scripting to get this new CRE in the game. At no time should chitin.key enter this equation.

I was making one from scratch, and for some reason that messed things up, it works now after I just copied one.

Any one know where those tiles are at, they had diablo and other game tiles to use in the Tile Editor.

Also, is it possible for PC in Baldurs Gate 1 to pick up money per week like they did in Baldurs Gate 2?

DLTCEP is the tool I use to make creatures. If there's an existing creature you can use as a template to save you work, all the better ;).

Sorry, don't know about the tiles.

It is possible to pick up money periodically in BG1, as it's done by scripts (in baldur.bcs, I think).

I remember that there was someone that was going to make some items for the wtp. but I can't remember his name :D ok kidding aside.

the WTP has the community assets page where you can find tiles there is a link on the mods web page to it. any other tiles are deaths tiles on 'wait in line site' but I forgot the name.

only about 500 to 750 to start with ;) that is how many bams I'll have to make. but if you could make a couple of few now and again that would be good too.

While using Near Infinity, how do i add to the dialogue.tlk and not just save over other dialogue?

Thanks!

OK, this isn't the advice you were looking for, but I strongly advise that you do modifications to dialog.tlk using WeiDU code, so that their installation is reversible and you don't permanently mess up your dialog.tlk (I also assume you have taken back-ups of Chitin.key and dialog.tlk before you have done anything else?).
