I got a new copy of Ps:T after not having access to my last one for a few years. It is the 4 CD set, like the old one.

After installing, I remember what I found frustrating. The installer installs the contents of CD1 but during ingame you need to swap around between 2,3 and 4 as you travel between areas.

Does anyone know of a way to install these CDs onto my hard drive so the game doesn't constantly require CD changes?

I thought about just manually copying the files, though it occurs to me that the game very specifically asks for the CD to be in drive D: so I suppose that wouldn't work...

I don't have Torment installed right now, but in BG2 you can edit where the game looks for the cd in baldur.ini. Perhaps you can do something similar for Torment?
Ihmeellinen meri

Kummalliset kalat liukuvat syvyydessä,
tuntemattomat kukat loistavat rannalla;
olen nähnyt punaista ja keltaista ja kaikki toiset värit -
mutta ihana meri on vaarallista nähdä,
se herättää tulevien seikkailujen janon:
mitä on tapahtunut sadussa, on tapahtuva minullekin.

You put the content of the discs into the game directory. (PsT doesn't use a data folder, the biffs go directly into the game folder. Change the other disc entries in the torment.ini file to point at it. (Basically mimic the first CD list.) So the key entries should look something like this:

[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment
CD1:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\CDDisks
CD2:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\CDDisks
CD3:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\CDDisks
CD4:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\CDDisks
CD5:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\CDDisks

If Torment works like BG1&2 there should be no reason why you can't move all the biffs into one folder.

[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\data
CD1:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\data
CD2:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\data
CD3:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\data
CD4:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\data
CD5:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\data
