unfortunately, i always ended up playing a fighter class and having nearly the same bunch of party members due to my playing style.
now i want to play as sorcerer for the first time (well, not for the first time, but for the first time i expect success ;-) and don't start over in chapter 2)
thus i have to restructure my usual party. i considered multiplayer and create my own party, stumbling over the skald. an intriguing kit.... ok, i will include a bard.
but with the mods installed i realized that, to fully enjoy the mods, i have to play with the standard npc's. but the only available bard is the tiefling with a crappy bard song, and since i do not rely on his fighting skills i won't take him along.
ok, no prob, i just mod the npc classes to fit my needs. BUT: i'm not a powergamer, roleplaying is a big factor for me.
for example; minsk is now a halforc berserker. in his bio, it tells he's a berserk warrior. check. his stats for wisdom, intelligence and charisma are the usual run of the mill halforc stats. check. his wisdom would prevent him from being ranger, so i "unchees" the game a little bit. check. overall, in roleplaying aspects, that is tolerable (and yes, boo is in his equippment too, i even edited the halforc pic from iwd to include him).
so now to the bard (skald). i looked at the standard npcs again and again, coming up with 2 characters, that would be suitable for that task: aerie and imoen
aerie: aerie works in a circus. with her magic abilities she could play illusions and tricks for the audience. check (at least if it would be an illusionist kit). but what the hell is she cleric for ? to heal unintentionally hurted customers ? so bard.. hm... the "clown/entertainer", well, that's suitable for circus, but as she states she does know crap about the world-> having high lore would not be "correct". off course, she traveled with the circus, so she could have been told the one or other story....even if she did not really see anything of the world and does not understand it doesn't meen she didn't HEAR anything about it. but a skald ? a fighter bard ? never :-(
imoen: i can't imagine her being a thief who backstabbed landlords, merchants etc. i imagine her pickpocketing for survival -> bard ? yes ! she spent most of her time in candlekeep studying old tomes -> high lore ! bard ? YES ! she fools around with/studying arcane knowledge -> bard ? YES !
ok, now i have two females (i did not find any male to fit the requirements, but i could still modify haerdalis)
now my question: would one of the 2 females fit the description of a northern bard, a skald ? would it be cheating roleplaying codex ;-) to give it to one of them ?
any other suggestions who would fit as a bard due to his background ?
PS: attached is minsc, just put the cre files into the override folder and the portaits into your portait folder (at least that's where they are on my computer)
