Just to let you guys know, if you install the weidu version of Munchmod after Item Upgrade( I have not had the time to reinstall bg2 and do it the other way and test it up to cromwell, and I'm probably not going to bother installing Munchmod again period) it corrupts the game beyond the ability of WEiDU to repair, at least as far as I could get stuff to work.

Specifically, Cromwell's ability to upgrade items via the Item Upgrade mod was lost. Uninstalling Munchmod allowed me to use the ItemUpgrade mod stuff with cromwell, but his basic dialogue to make items such as Red dragon scale armor, Ankheg plate, etc. was extremely broken.

I tried uninstalling ALL my weidu stuff to see if something preserved his original dialogue, but no luck.

As far as I can narrow it down it was munchmod, but I can't be positive.

Reinstalling a fresh BG2, ToB, official patch, Baldurdash Patch, my ONE non weidu item, Universal Ioun Stones!(why is this not in Ease of Use, or is it?)

Then the most up to date(that I could find through here or weidu's site) WEIDU versions of:

Ascension
Azengaard Mod
Freedom Reign and Reign of Virtue
Improved Asylum
Ease of Use
Underrepresented Items
Item Upgrade
Tactics
Super Firkraag
Deeper Shadows of Amn (from mod resurrections, but not the parts in tactics already)
Brown Dragon mod(from Mod Resurrections also?)

If anybody glances at this real quick and sees a glaring conflict, please tell me! :D

hrm, just looking through my install list, I realized I am also installing the:

"BG2ThroneOfBhaalGameTextUpdate12.exe"

from Baldurdash... I assume everybody is using this thing along with the fixpack still?

Most people are probably using the BD-weidu-v1.5 made by king diamond until the G3 fixpack comes out.

I think I know your problem, if I follow your post correctly. I had asked Hlid about it a few years ago.

Munchmod does work with Item Upgrade. I always use both. The trick is if you have any of the crossbow components, you have to drop them before speaking to Cromwell. Then you will get his usual dialogue. If you want to create deathbringer, just store the components somewhere safe untill you have all the pieces.

I think he sited it being a limitation on knowledge of the engine at the time Munchmod was created.

i had also this problem but it is caused by the deathbringer items. if they are in inventary you see only the munchmod dialog --> lay the frame, sigwald istr. and string for the deathbringer onto the ground --> everything will work fine.
good luck

arrrg i should read until the end of all reply's ;) sorry for double answer

Thanks for the replies, all.

I reinstalled the following:

BG2 SoA
ToB
ToB Official Patch
BG2ThroneOfBhaalFixPack112.exe (I have since found the WeiDU version of this)
BG2ThroneOfBhaalGameTextUpdate12.exe (This is the most up to date one I have seen)

WeiDU mods in this order:
Ascension v1.4.21
AzenMOD v2
Freedom Reign /Reign of Virtue v3?
Ease of Use v3.2
Improved Asylum v92
Underrepresented Itemsv5
Item Upgrade v3.2
Tactics v2.3
SuperFirkraag v1.4
DeeperShadows of Amn v2.2

I don't even have munchmod at this point.

Initially right after leaving Irenicus' Dungeon and talking to Gaelan Bayle I went to Cromwell to see if he was bugged. He worked fine.

Several quests later, and after I have triggered the 20kgold responses from the kid and Valen to go to chapter 3, I went back to cromwell to get some items made.

Item Upgrade dialogue still works, but if I go to option 1, to start his STANDARD dialogue(Gessen Bow, Equalizer, Ankheg armor, etc.) it just spouts random dialogue or descriptions from elsewhere in the game, and I assume the wrong location in the dialogue file.

I restored the original Dialog.tlk backed up by the Baldurdash Fix, reinstalled all the WeiDU mods in the above order, and I STILL have corrupted Cromwell Dialogue.

What is the issue here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I loaded an old saved game, from the first time I talked to cromwell, and he wasn't corrupted initially.

However this time, even in the OLD save, he is corrupted.

I guess I'll be wiping this install out and reinstalling, but any clues as to what is getting broken and by what would help.

Anytime you reinstall, you have to start a new game. Do that and you should be fine.

MajorTom, I know, but something in my above install is corrupting the dialog.tlk file beyond repair.

I still need to find out WHAT is doing it, so I eventually don't have the same problem. One or more of the above mods or patches is causing a conflict.

I am going to follow the Building a Clean Install/Backup procedure so I can save myself some time, but it's pointless to keep playing if after about 4-5 hours of play major npc dialogue is corrupted.

Direction questions:

What Baldurdash patches, if any, do you or anyone else use?

Do you use that Baldurdash Language fix? As far as I can tell there is no WeiDU LANGUAGE fix, just the Baldurdash patches translated to WeiDU format.

I am going to install WITHOUT the language pack next time, but surely somebody else would have found problems with that thing by now? It was last updated in 2003.

And just for reference, pretty much every site mentions using this language update in the install, so that's why I've been using it.

If somebody knows of a more up to date version, or knows for a fact that is causes bugs in WeiDU mods now, please post something! :D

Just noticed something:

"SuperFirkraag v1.4"

I was not aware of this being a Weidu mod? As far as I can ead from your list, you use alot of the ones I use (my list is usually about 3x longer).

* Azenmod was causing CTD in Trademeet for me, I assumed it was a compatability issue with other mods and don't use it.

* Improved Asylum v92 - Never used it.

If you reinstall, I reccomend after the official patch, and both baldurdash fixes, copy your dialogue tlk, chittin key, and override folders. Burn them to disk if you want. That make reinstalling much easier. Delete those files, then replace them with un-modded ones. Michel had posted a tutorial for that (and how to burn the entire folder to DVD, but I don't have a dvd burner) somewhere, but I coul not find it anywhere.

MajorTom thanks again for the reply. SuperFirkraag is an old WeiDU mod apparently, but definitely WeiDU. It has the WeiDU executable and everything.

I'll skip Asylum and Azenmod, and I guess Firkraag as well then. And yeah, I'm definitely going to do the Clean Install/Backup procedure.

Sorta sucks though, last time I reinstalled BG2 (about a year and a half ago, I had the above all working fine, and half of them weren't even WeiDU versions back then. And Improved Firkraag was GREAT! Oh well, good working order > 1 battle.

I've played this combination many times IT DOES NOT BREAK YOUR INSTALL (sorry for using capitals)
